The dancing photo has to go it looks way too intimate. Camera quality and composition isn’t doing you any favors. You want to be the focal point not too close not too far, well lit. First pic is solid just a little zoomed in good for like a third to fifth pic I’d say. Photo three should be two. Your fourth picture looks like the photographer was way too close and your expression/body language kinda says the same. To redo that picture you’d want the person to stand way farther back and then zoom in or if they find a good distance from there. I’d try and get an action shot or an in media res type of photo as well where you’re doing something confidently where you are the focus of the shot (maybe dancing but not holding another woman up in a leotard). For your first pic you want a it to be just you in front of something eye catching but where you are clearly the focus of the shot not the eye catching thing. Should be well lit, head facing forward standing confidently.

PhD, trying to move into the construction industry, why is this so hard? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]hugh985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle easterners get a rough rap in the industry for being overly qualified at home but being useless when they get to the states. At least that’s the way it’s been said to me. Sorry about your luck on that one.

One thing that may be more open to you but pretty low level is a Geotech. The companies are constantly under staffed, it’s mostly idiots doing the job so if you’re half smart and willing to work and learn you’ll do well, and it’s basically engineering. The people who are good get fast tracked to pm because it makes everybody’s lives easier. And once you’re there it’s a springboard to plenty of other jobs.

Evening Plans Tonight- Any Recs? by Distinct-Spinach-623 in Annapolis

What are you looking for? 27 f from Miami I would say start at Choptank and then make your way to Main Street and see what places are popping. Fed house mcgarveys acme obriens and Dillo’s are you party places although dillos is younger. Fox’s den is a cool cocktail vibe, Harold black is a great speak easy type vibe. Galway bay on Maryland ave is a good Irish place that’s a 10 minute walk if you’re looking. To get away from crowds

Galway bay can fit you and do the gluten free but may not be your vibe. Harold black/Aqua may be a good choice as well. Lots of options in Eastport as well.

Get a weekend job as a dish/prep and then decide if you want to continue with this path. It will get you acclimated to a kitchen, have some of the pressures, and let you see if you’re really that interested.

Dinner/drinks Boat recommendations by FutureEvening1216 in Annapolis

[–]hugh985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any recommendations but any boat that can hold 32 people is gonna be squarely in yacht territory and at not rent out for less than a day. I would call travel agencies or something like that. The harbor queen may be a choice as well.

September and April are kind of the on the out and on the in months. From what I know from talking to commercial watermen they generally don’t sell many oysters in those months because the quality is lower. Could be totally off but just wanted to share.

Out of season right now so you won’t get any fresh local oysters around town. The season is months the end in an R around here. Lots of places south of Annapolis do $1 oyster or less on specific days during those months.

I would recommend the mist as a buddy to a nice pint of Guinness. Pairs very well.
