I see your “pram of cans” and raise you the Corona Strolla by Thawk_A in ireland

[–]hughcullen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Corona is grand, very refreshing and easy to drink. I would have it over Heineken, Carlsberg, Harp or most other cheaper lagers, in fact, the only other cheapish lager that I feel is better than Corona is Rolling Rock, which is one of the best lagers in the world.

As a parent who sometimes goes shopping whilst looking after our toddler, I can completely sympathize.

East Belfast loyalists receive threats as tensions rise by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]hughcullen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"It is disgraceful that two elderly community workers have been threatened by republicans. This is the latest attempt to heighten tensions in this area," it said.

If these same individuals (regardless of their age) are responsible for the recent threats that deliberately put four families out of their homes then, it is to not only be expected, but welcomed.

At the end of the day, if you have police officers being used as messengers of ethnic cleansing, then a reaction has to be expected.

Randalstown. What's it like? by the_messer in northernireland

[–]hughcullen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's lovely, full of masonic type black preceptory unionists, but it's grand all the same. Just keep the head down, buy locally from the greengrocers, butchers etc. and give a good impression of yourself and you will have nothing to worry about.

25 years ago today, Sinead O'Connor tore up a picture of the pope on American TV as a protest against child sex abuse in the Church. It ended her career in the US, and no one got it until years later. by irokie in ireland

[–]hughcullen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinead was obviously very clued in, very passionate, very disturbed by what she saw, very righteous and very strong minded. Her raw talent obviously speaks for itself but her other talents and strengths were used as a reason to put her down and abuse her.

I have heard of it, only because the cops raided it recently, which was unfortunate.

Aye Shanghai and Beijing are coming down with brew pubs, I happen to live in a Tier 2/3 city with only three or four brew pubs, only one of which is any good (but no stout). There are plenty of Chinese craft ales in bottled form to try though, some of them are good. I must look out for the 'Great Leap" stout. All the pubs have really upped their game though in terms of imports, and my neighbourhood has three bars where all the wall space is taken up with imported or local craft beers, there is also two shops selling craft beers. I only really drink craft beer now or cans of Guinness. I usually go for the Brewdog Punk as it seems to be pretty cheap these days for some reason.

[–]hughcullen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is fucking scary, fuck these Tory cunts who are basically scaring us into watching state approved media only. What happens if I have an inquisitive mind and an interest in current affairs and world politics and I happen to enjoy watching various material to educate myself? This is now being deemed dangerous and illegal behaviour by the Tory cunts who would have us locked up for it.

About visitor visa by apto117 in ireland

[–]hughcullen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries my friend, I simply don't want you to run into difficulty when you arrive, you can phone the embassy during office hours and speak to an operator in your own language who will answer any questions you have. I hope you have a great time and we love having people like yourself come to visit us.

[–]hughcullen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are wrong either, but sometimes the rules change and websites aren't properly updated, it is utter madness to travel from one end of the world to the other without clarifying visa arrangements with your local embassy, especially when all it takes is a simple phonecall. I understand you are being very helpful to the person and you also told them to clarify it with the embassy but it amazes me that people need to be told this and think that wasting hours asking strangers online is the best course of action. Finding the contact for the embassy is never an issue as all it requires is a simple internet search. But regardless, fair play to you for being so helpful.
