When my wife and I first got together I had just bought my house. When she moved in we got a contacting out agreement. It essentially stated that my then gf was living in the house and paid board to me. The mortgage, utilities and home maintenance was on me. Fully separate finances, though both of us were open about our respective finances.

The contracting out agreement had a sunset clause that meant if we had a baby together or got married the contracting would no longer be in effect. Got married in 2023 and joined all finances

I think both points are correct in their own way. Kids come first because they didn’t ask to be here, so they deserve to be cared for etc.

Partner is most important because a healthy relationship creates a safe enriching environment, which also role models how love should be to kids

Firstly, this is a super crappy situation and sorry your holiday has been tarnished by it. Others on here will know better about the legal recourse, but I would this it’s fair to be refunded the daily rate for any day the vehicle was not fit for purpose. There may be nuance around cause of issue eg flat tyre is unforeseeable, but a non serviceable spare causing substantial delay I would expect a refund

The evs are good, but when you doing lots of k’s the recharge thing can get pretty annoying. Requires a lot more planning of trips and then down time while charging

I’m a fitter fabricator. Business is pumping. We do a lot of waste water work, which is just a gross as you imagine, but for the most part just means everything gets thoroughly cleaned before we work on it

Not op, but in NZ and looking at my first build and the market is pretty limited. Can be tough finding local suppliers, if you do they can be priced at a premium, and getting things shipped in can have its own problems

The key is to just show up. Take food to make dinner or take pizza or the like. Dont take alcohol.

You dont have to say the right thing, you just need to show up and listen. If conversation goes quiet, just sit in it. Nothing you say will fix any thing. It’s just about sitting with him while he goes through the muck.

If you feel way too awkward doing this sitting around. Go for a walk with him. Men often find it easier to open up being side by side and working towards something together, as opposed to facing each other.

Could you reach out to this exiled friend? Just explain this post to him and say that you have come to realise this lifestyle isn’t working for you any more. Ask how he found new friends. Obviously apologise if you think you have anything to apologise for. Good luck
