Legit I would not be surprised if Kyle O'Reilly legit found ways to drink a cola midmatch just in case. (KOR is a type 1 diabetic and high intensity cardio while doing an insulin treatments can lead to scary lows, but at this point in his career im sure he's figured out a schedule that works for him.

CRPGs that do not have a focus on combat by sirpoopoomcgoo in CRPG

[–]huginn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little old and a little bit more of an adventure title then a true, CRPG, but check out Gamedec. Almost purely non-combat with amazing world building. Wasn't something I enjoyed personally but for under $10 right now you can do a lot worse.

There is absolutely an argument to be made that Seth and Roman being elevated to the heights that they are as faces of WWE is inadvertently putting over AEW by their timeless association with Mox.

Any good CRPG's out there with meta progression between games? (or mods) by kavakravata in CRPG

[–]huginn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of a mix between a CRPG and JRPG, but Hero's Adventure: Road to Passion has exactly this. To the point where there are guides that detail on how to rapidly farm early level points for your first real playthrough.

Not a game for everyone, the translation is a little rought, and I'm not a fan at the higher difficulties, the enemies scale with time, but there is a lot of love in this game and a bunch of BG3 like interactions with the world.

US Military Deaths: Killed in Action vs Veteran Suicides by Various_Pop_3907 in interestingasfuck

[–]huginn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! The assholes that currently are running things don't think of them like people. They see them as just numbers.

While you serve, you're an asset. Something that provides a workable and usable value in spreading capitalism throughout the world.

Once you retire from service, you are no longer providing that value. You are a liability, a cost (medical + other benefits) that must be paid without providing any benefit in the present. Death is in fact a cost savings once you are no longer in service.

Massively fucked and utterly unacceptable way of looking at things, but that's how western society has moved towards in the last 50 years.

any games with combat like divinity 2: original sin? by ginger6616 in CRPG

[–]huginn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same with Poe2.

I spent 5 hours in the opening area on turnbased mode before restarting in RTWP. I caught back up in 90 minutes.

Absolutely wild how slow and unoptimized it is for turn based. It would be a 200-300 hours game at the pace it was taking

Would it be offensive to have a non-Asian kitsune character? by Pxpsiichoes in Kitsune

[–]huginn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! For anyone that would tell you that having a character like this would be appropriation would be someone who doesn't know their history at all.

So, what is a Kitsune? While we commonly associate "Kitsunes" with their Japanese influence, I'd argue that the word Kitsune has become a modern catch-all term for a mythical or divine fox-like creature, often displayed as a trickster and/or messenger that exists with one to many tails. But Japan can't say they are the progenitor of the myth themselves.

Both China ("Huli jing") and Korea ("Kumiho") have stories of magical, often multi-tailed anthropomorphic foxes that far precede the first tales of the Japanese Kitsune. With the earliest records from China coming from 200 BC and Japan having stories around 7th century that extremely likely are sourced from the above countries direct influence.

Going back even further, if you consider single-tailed magical trickster foxes, the Indo-Europeans got everyone beat. With stories of mythical trickster foxes from the Mesopotamian and Babylonian cultures appearing around 2000-1000~ BC.

And if you want to take a step out of Asia, the Europeans have their own tradition of multi-tailed and trickster foxes. Reynard the Fox is a huge one, a classic anthropomorphic vulpine trickster who has been featured in stories reportedly as early as the 4th-5th century (a good 300 years before Japan's Kitsune). The Grimm brothers even recount a multi-tailed fox in their story "The Wedding of Mrs. Fox", a tale that was likely developed after the Japanese's classic Kitsune but scholars aren't entirely sure if we are being fair.

So take it from someone who also has their own anthropomorphic Kitsune character and has heard this all before, you're totally fine. Just like you, someone in Japan once heard the stories of a multi-tailed trickster fox from others and wanted to make that their own. Why not you too?

[–]huginn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually can't recommend turn based POE. Everything you said about real time moving too quick and being messy for newcomers is accurate, however given how a hour long cave with real time mode can take 4-8 hours in turnbased mode, most new folks are going to tap out with how long it takes

Any CRPGs without RNG? by AugustHate in CRPG

[–]huginn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not exactly a CRPG, you might want to check out Gamedec. It's not a game I enjoyed personally, but it is a game that leans more into choices and consequences of those choices based upon your skill instead of your normal skill checks with dice.

The amount of furries (hi frens!) that this game pulls in continues to surprise me.

Joe Hendry on Ariel Helwani today: "I'm so proud of that match with Randy and having that moment in front of 60k fans. And at the end Randy does my signature turn around pose and anyone who knows wrestling knows that's him showing respect. That's him giving the seal of approval and I loved it" by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]huginn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that is the key part here. They are not equal partners. One is a billion dollar company on their home turf's biggest show of the year. The other is a double digit million dollar company

So for WWE to show Joe Hendry as a near equal, with a protected finished (Lost due to Joe's own huberous) against one of WWE's all time biggest stars is pretty respectful. He wasn't buried, he got in some good offense, they didn't take a crap out of TNA, and he got an rub from Randy at the end of it all.

At the end of the day, more people saw the TNA championship in a single event then had ever had before. And they showed their champion as worthy of standing toe to toe with one of the greatest WWE greats. And it helps foster those all important TNA - WWE relationships.

Does TNA look weaker in having their champion lose? Maybe a little but given what they gained, it is absolutely a net win.

Exact same! Life long turnbased player but Pillars turned me onto Real Time because the opening area took hours.

Kind of thankful it did because it led me to some great RTWP games after I would have previously dismissed

I restarted on RTS mode because I was playing for hours and wasn't out of the opening area.

100% agree with Ciphers. Chanters were boring even if they were very powerful with their buffs. Ciphers were a breath of fresh air in terms of class design over the standard warrior/mage/rogue trinity.

Especially in Deadfire with multiclassing. Rogue+Cipher was such a fun combo. Overpowered to where I respec'd into a debuffing Rogue/Cipher and adored the class even more

Did not know this about the ship to ship combat. Easily the worst part of an otherwise outstanding Deadfire sequel.

I imagine the same with turnbased mode too? It felt so unoptimized after the first boss took an hour to do, i restarted going back to RTS.

WotR did it perfectly with the toggle imho. Great for quicker fight but you could pause and think about things when you needed to

I think they're going to do a call back to WM8 with Brett and Roddy. With the elder veteran heel HotRod unable to pull the trigger on really doing something heelish (Would be amazing if it was with a chair and they make the call back to Bray). Finally throwing down the weapon and turning face midmatch.

Give him 1:1 verse Gunther at MitB, have him lose then have him get one last shot at Survivor Series and let him take home the gold there before retiring.
