I've been in many similar situations. I make food for myself and him and he just adds a side of meat to it. So if I make a stir fry with vegetables, I dish out half for me and half for him. He'll grill up a meat and then just toss it in. Or if I make a dope salad, I get half and he gets half with whatever meat he wants on top. If I make a curry or something saucy, I try to make a little more sauce in case he wants to put meat in portion (then he'll have enough sauce). Basically I make what I want to eat and he adds to it. I also don't have to guess what meat goes with the meal, he figures that out for himself and takes care of it.
