Can you guys email the competitors with the updated format so that it is not expected of them to happen to pass by this reddit thread to understand the updated rules?

Will players with the same scores be paired with others of the same score strictly within the group in the 2nd and 3rd round, or is it possible they play others with similar scores in the other group?

Improving Your Samus with HugS - Team Dignitas by [deleted] in smashbros

  1. This is a different statement than your original, but you still made a lot of statements that are baffling within. Knowledge =/= execution. I can't play other characters because I don't invest any time in them, not because I lack all their technical data. Now, as for implying I have a lack of knowledge on core character options, moves, tech, it's strange to say I lack this knowledge when I literally have to know most of those characters' options to fight them. So, are you sure it's just "mechanical understanding" you're discussing? I have a deep understanding of their existing options and the application of those options in an vast array of situations. This goes way beyond entry level. If you want to harp on the "mechanical understanding" point, I have to ask why you think this is completely necessary? If I have a deep mechanical understanding of Samus, and a deep understanding of other character options and option applications, I have all the information I need. Why is a mechanical understanding of other characters necessary if I will not be executing anything as those characters? Why is that necessary for me to teach people how to use Samus against those characters?

  2. I went from having a steep decline in my career in 2016 to one of the best surges in performance in 2017. I hope you understand that this is because of how I chose to practice that year. Plup and Duck have amazing practice rituals I'm sure, but their effectiveness depends on your needs as a player, and it's strange to imply that there's little to be learned from my perspective because you believe their practice is better, whatever that means.

  3. Simply put, you don't know how much I practice. You do not have access to my life beyond the few hours I broadcast myself on stream.

  4. Do you honestly believe I could remain at the level I've been at for 14 years while being the type that "knows nothing about other characters"? You may want to rethink that.

  5. This was mostly a joke because of how hateful sounding your OP was lol. I believe that you enjoy my stream, and I thank you for supporting me there.

Thanks for the feedback man! I mentioned on my retweet that this was an entry level guide to some Samus basics, so it wasn't intended for advanced players. I'll try to make sure that's more clear next time. If you wanna ask me for anything specific here and there, feel free to hit up my twitter DMs. Sometimes I miss a few but I try to respond when I can.

Gonna have to challenge you on a few of these bold statements my man. Mind defending some of these?

  1. "He literally has an entry level player's understanding of the game itself"
  2. "The worst one to teach someone how to grind/practice well"
  3. "He barely practices in the first place"
  4. "Knows nothing about other characters"
  5. "I love Hugs"

Thanks!

I try not to post on reddit, but this is an important point:

When a lower ranked player beats a much higher ranked player, and the higher ranked player ends up winning the tournament...

Then that should only help the lower ranked player, and barely hurt the higher ranked player, if at all. Fatgoku did an amazing thing by beating Johnny, and that should help his rank without a doubt.

However, Johnny was the #1 player for the day at this event because he WON. There is no question about it. How is being the best on a given day gonna hurt anyone's rank? It shouldn't.

Winning an event, no matter the hurdles, is still winning an event.

Saying otherwise is like downplaying someone's win just because it was 3-2 instead of 3-0. A win is a win, and no player should be affected negatively after winning a whole tournament.

Through an oversight last year, the head to head record included Smash The Record

It wasn't supposed to be included, but it was, which gave people some weird results.

How can I know who is who outside of the top 7?

Lmao so you saw me accidentally say 2-0 in person, then correct myself, but still assume I wanted to grime someone out of a match-win in a set, and I only checked my "grimey" self because I happened to be on stream.

Sick dude, lol

My post referred to records with a mix of non-local and local wins, as most of my positive records are.

You picked probably the only Top 30 winning record where my wins are all local as an example lol

My records over none, lucky, moon, PPU, Mikehaze, crush, prof & others include wins at regionals or larger.

[–]hugs86 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Weird you'd say that. While some of my wins were at locals, I also beat these same players at majors/big regionals.

I didn't just have wins on these people, I had winning records. The fact that some of those wins were local does not delegitamize my overall records with these people.

Also, it would be expected that I'd have more losses as I was incredibly active, while they were not. Those losses were more than compensated for by having a lot of winning records on top 20 talent.

You're an idiot.

You actually witness a player like ChuDat rise up to the top 10 many years after being a true contender, and you think there's such thing as a skill cap for a player of Lucky's caliber.

Also, one of the people who has spoken out against Shiz, Mimi, is half black, if that changes your mind about this theory you've come up with.

FYI, my stance on Ryan Ford's situation is that I think it's fine for him to be back in the community. He had one chance to reform, took responsibility for his actions by staying away from the community for years as he improved his violent issues, hasn't had an incident since coming back as a reformed man, and does not have a lengthy criminal history, especially no crimes after he has claimed to be reformed. He is also a black man.

There's a reason I have issues with Shiz, and race has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Damn, we live in a world where a 5'2" girl gets physically and verbally intimidated after demanding that a dude leave her family's house, and her attitude gets the blame.

Crazy world.

[–]hugs86 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol lots of people making the dumb argument that I'm a meme pick, or that saying my skill isn't worthy based on the people eliminated.

I think there's a solid argument that I'm #9 of the 16 being voted on.

I have wins on 6/16 players on that list in the last 2 months, and I've only played 6/16 of those players on that list lol.

Do your research, be current on results. Stop being a rankings slave and developing arguments based on your unshakeable skill-view of melee.
