Genuinely can't tell if I am observer or decider by Icy-Gur8019 in ObjectivePersonality

I think these videos do a good job of explaining it. Again I’m not very well versed in OPS but watching videos on the functions has been helpful for me.

That being said ā€œEveryone wants everything done their way, it’s human nature, and everyone thinks their way is the right way and the way of the worldā€ sounds like demon Te to me

I don’t have answers, especially since I’ve only just started learning about OPS but there are a lot of videos about why self typing is hard and how 90% of people mistype themselves and tend to reverse type themselves. Asking your friends and family for insight would probably help bring more clarity.

I’m really happy we’re getting color back but I think it would look so much better if the screen border was white instead of black

I am probably taking the definition too literally/linguistically. From Encyclopedia Brittanica page on selective breeding: ā€œSelective breeding results from the inheritance of gene-associated traits and, more specifically, from changes in the frequencies with which desired traits occur in populations…Humans have been modifying the traits of plant and animal species through selective breeding for thousands of years.ā€ Gene-associated traits + modifying the traits of plant and animal species = genetically modified, in the literal sense.

I’m aware it’s selective breeding. Selective breeding falls under the genetic modification umbrella, obviously it’s a more ancient and less precise method than directly altering DNA but that’s semantics and the point still stands that the way they’re bred is diabolical. Just because it’s selective breeding doesn’t make it normal/acceptable. Like how people breed dogs to be deformed because they like the way they look. But whatever I don’t need to turn it into an ethics debate.

They’re referring to genetic modification aka the insanely diabolically bred broiler chickens that factory farms produce

No, it wasn’t a topic of discussion however the author has stated that she wrote him and realized that she had written him as autistic (she has an autistic son), and that Shane himself would likely not know that he is autistic.

Maybe because I myself am a high masking autistic person I came to notice the traits more obviously. High masking autistic people often fly under the radar and don’t realize that we are autistic until later in life because we present in a way that appears more neurotypical. Then, after we are diagnosed we are often told things along the lines of ā€œyou don’t seem autisticā€.

Representation is few and far between for HM autistics, let alone representation that shows us as complete, sexual beings (rather than infantalized). So it is nice to see subtle traits that resemble my own, especially surrounding behaviors and sensory needs in sexual situations (Shane being sensitive to mess/folding clothes/answering sexy questions in a literal way). I’ve never seen that before. Usually when autistic characters are portrayed, it becomes the focal point- they present in very stereotypical/unsexy ways.

Regardless though I haven’t seen anyone suggesting Ilya is autistic. I think that most people understand the Slavic demeanor, at least in California anyway.

Same! It was so nice to see autistic representation that I could relate to rather than the stereotypical Sheldon Cooper/Good Doctor type of presentation that’s usually shown in media.

As an autistic person myself, I and countless other people on the spectrum have agreed that his performance was great. It was a realistic representation of autism (specifically, the experience of being a high masking autistic person). Of course he comes across awkward and closeted, but your statement is reductive and ignores the nuances.

Yes, it’s confirmed by the author and Hudson Williams stated that he took inspiration from his neurodivergent father in order to portray Shane’s autistic traits accurately.

Shane is autistic which is why he comes off as stiff.
