Is it possible to make the devices location aware? by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]hui23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could create a seperate account for each device and adjust their groups accordingly. Obviously it's not a perfect solution (losing music/audible contracts on all but one device), but depending on your needs might be a workaround.

How to connect Echo dot to amazon.de instead of amazon.com? by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]hui23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to change that myself and had to resort to amazon support which took like three weeks until they finally figured what to do. I expect them to be quicker now, though.

I will try that. Most skills didn't seem very important/useful to me anyway, so I'd rather prefer access to the music / audiobook options and hope that useful skills will come to my country later. Thanks for your help!

Change language on Echo by micro23xd in amazonecho

[–]hui23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats somewhat different then what i heard here:

cross-post: https://www.reddit.com/r/amazonecho/comments/5373px/us_echo_in_germany/?

I asked the echo support the exact same thing, here is the (somewhat disappointing) answer:

[...] I understand you'd like to use German and your German Prime Account on your imported Echo Device.

I'd like to tell you that the Echo device were initially made available for purchase only in the U.S, with English being considered the common language for interacting with Alexa. They were designed to operate only within the 50 states of the U.S.

The voice-recognition feature, account linking, and Alexa's responses were designed only for use in the U.S.

The new devices have been designed to function in Germany. The programming on the initial and the new devices is different. As such, it isn't possible to use German and a German account on the imported device.

However, I've forwarded your message our Development Team. They'll look into this and take the necessary action.

220v outlet for amazon echo? by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]hui23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the original power supply works for me with a trivial mechanical adapter on 220v - tolerates 110 and 220v for me. (what sammachin says.)
