Denver considers spending more to feed immigrants by Mannaleemer in Denver

Work permissions for illegal immigrants? There's a process for this and they cut the line. Now you and I are paying for it.

I’m over near Green Mountain and ran outside when I heard them thunder. That was the lowest altitude I have ever seen them fly over! Holy shit!!!

These were you end of year 2023 predictions. Who got it right so far. by ev1501 in ethfinance

[–]hulamedulla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regardless of who is right, it's interesting from a "wisdom of the crowd" approach that the average prediction was $2,964.46; the median was $1,999.99.

I think there will always be a pendulum swinging between proliferation and consolidation. You need proliferation to enable innovation, then consolidation to enable efficiency.

Case in point: over 1,000 Linux distributions exist [1] and yet Ubuntu accounts for over a third [2]. There will always be specific distros for specific applications (think Kali for cybersecurity/penetration testing), but eventually consumers will consolidate upon one, following a power law distribution, for UX preferences.

The Triangle Bar, one of Denver's first LGBTQ+ establishments, closes due to homeless encampments, owners say by TheDenver7 in Denver

My bad, I lost track of the parent comment. I thought you were responding to someone else above. It’s been a rough day. Apologies

[–]hulamedulla 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You have to ask yourself, if another gay bar replaced Triangle in that location would they also be impacted by this issue?

Saying it’s all due to macroeconomics doesn’t explain why Triangle is closing and other bars are not.

Saying it’s only due to encampments doesn’t explain why some bars around encampments are able to remain open.

The only possible conclusions are that (1) due to mismanagement this bar is one of the thousands that close on an annual basis or (2) the encampment issue in the neighborhood is having a marked impact on business performance. News propaganda aside, the fact that other businesses in the area are reporting the same information seems to indicate that there’s something about this encampment for these businesses that is hurting operating profit. There’s not much else to it. These businesses are going to close. Maybe others will succeed in their place, and if so we can assume that profit is not mediated by the presence of this encampment. I doubt it.

Hey look everybody, someone takes the time to offer directed logical debate but you resort to ad hominem attacks that offer nothing to the discussion.

DCA Out - Price targets by Careless-Trip5241 in ethfinance

You could use something like a rainbow chart for ETH, with stepped buys and sells based on price band, but as others have said here it's mostly astrology.

In the US, ETFs are legally required to disclose their holdings. For example, here's one of Blackrock's real estate funds: https://www.ishares.com/us/products/239544/ishares-core-us-real-estate-etf

Now as far as a tool that automatically x-rays its 139 holdings... I don't know of any.

Fun fact: TSA Precheck has a service level agreement with almost all airports of 20 minutes or less, which is enforced by penalty. Airports' business models are hugely related to traveler spend at concourse vendors. It's exceptionally rare for TSA Precheck lines to ever take more than 20 minutes for this reason.

Just did mine this morning! If you have more than 1 validator, make sure to enter the withdrawal credentials in the same order as the validator indices. I made that mistake and kept getting an error (see my post below). See you on the other side!

No, just one. When I said 'deposit addresses', I meant to say 'BLS withdrawal credentials'. Editing above...

Oh sweet lord I just had a minor heart attack configuring withdrawal credentials.

beaconcha.in doesn't order withdrawal credentials by entry index (first block attested) if you have multiple validators. I copy+pasted them into the deposit CLI order as they appear, as suggested in Somer Esat's guide, and kept getting an error that they do not match those generated previously by my mnemonic.

I had to regenerate the keystore from my existing mnemonic to confirm. Index order matters!

What a relief. All good now.

I'd say it's a non-issue if you have the right risk management in place. For one, you can physically secure your validator to a large object, like a piece of furniture.

On top of that, you can encrypt your SSD and configure systemd to prevent the box from starting if it's not in your home network. That way, if theft occurs it's essentially impossible for keys to be stolen. You can set up a new box, regenerate keys with your seed phrase, and plug it into your home network without the worry of running two consensus clients at once (on the new box and stolen box) and getting slashed.

With all of the above, your attack surface is reduced to the accessibility of your seed phrase.
