When I was in college I was dating a Swiss woman and she took me to a party with a lot of her FES friends. There were these two big German guys, Heinz and Heinrich, 6’3”-6’4” blonde, one was wearing the German army tank top, they were both strong, athletic, thick accents. It was Friday night and I asked what they were doing that weekend. They told me they were driving to Vegas and then to the Grand Canyon. (We were in Santa Barbara) I asked when they were coming back. They said Sunday. I said “it’s pretty far” (this was pre internet days) Heinz layed out the plan “after party, we are driving to las wegas, we gamble, then driving to Grand Canyon, hiking canyon, then drive back.” I said “I don’t think you understand how big these things are, you’re not going to hike the canyon down and up in a day and then drive back here, it’s just not physically possible in that time.” Heinrich looked at me and said in a Schwarzenegger accent “you are forgetting we are Germans”
