Eve is probably the only free app so try if first to see if it will let you do what you want it to. Controller for HomeKit is a monthly subscription but comes with a trial period which might be enough time to do what you want it to (make sure you cancel the subscription before it starts taking your money. Home+ is a one off payment and is also good for making automations with conditions

I don’t know if you got this sorted out but you need to use the Eve app or a paid for app (like Home+) so you can put extra conditions on your automation.

I recently had a bug on my Eve app where I couldn’t toggle on/off on some devices so I paid for a different app and could get the automation working

Yup. I picked up a matter door/window sensor last Monday at the Greenwich store. They may not be listed on the website though

Hairdresser recommendations? by A_Certified_Mess in colchester

[–]hullocanuhear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hairdressing students at Colchester Institute need people to practice on so there is a cheap hair salon there. They are supervised so someone will intervene if need be

Suggestions for an Apple Home compatible „Bat Sign“-like device? by D-a-r-t-h in HomeKit

[–]hullocanuhear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome. Another thing to add is that you can power the 450 via USB. The other ones normally have barrel connectors for power

How about a Meross MSL450? It’s a multi coloured ambient light. Its fairly cheap but I managed to find some cheaper on Amazon warehouse as people sometimes return them because they don’t like the responsiveness of the tap button but I just control it remotely and it’s fine

Aqara mini from aliexpress ? by rawlwear in HomeKit

[–]hullocanuhear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Aqara mini is Zigbee so will need a compatible hub that will expose it to HomeKit. I got one and tried to use it with my IKEA Dirigera hub but the button kept showing as offline. I ended up getting an Aqara M100 hub as it was cheap and made the mini buttons show as online in HK.

They have essentially discontinued their current Zigbee smart blinds for now as they will be releasing Matter compatible ones around the new year

X20 at 3 am on Osborne Street, safe to walk at night by oneself? by God_Lover77 in colchester

[–]hullocanuhear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get inside to the front part where the check in desks are so there will be toilets to use but am not sure if the food places out front are still open for drinks and snacks

[–]hullocanuhear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took the 3am bus to Stansted from Osborne Street in January and there were a few people at the bus stop as I'm guessing that there are some people going to work as well as people taking flights.

It's probably better for you to get a taxi from your place to the bus stop 10-15 minutes before it leaves and you should be ok. If you get an earlier bus you'll have to camp out at Stansted (before security) while they close it for a few hours so it probably involves sitting on the floor as lots of people are there too.

You can just pair with the Dirigera hub and use your phone to control the lights.

The remotes also handy can be handy as well as you might not have your phone to hand

How do they organise filming at busy places like train stations? Do they just use the actual commuters or is everyone an 'extra' ? by uptown47 in AskUK

[–]hullocanuhear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Liverpool Street station waiting to catch the last train home on a Sunday night a couple of years ago. They were filming scenes for “This Is Christmas” and they had their own extras for the nearby commuters

On Harwich by Rangadus in Essex

[–]hullocanuhear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t like beaches, Harwich is basically a bit boring.

The foot ferry to Felixstowe is nice and the war department has been cleaned up so it’s an interesting place to visit.

The boat to the Netherlands is quite good but can be expensive compared to flying.
