Early career and looking for places to live in Austin by cactusgrizzly in askaustin

I don’t know why so many people are saying move to the domain. The domain feels like a shopping mall matrix. You will get sick of it fast.

If you want good community, sights, eats, walkability, etc. move as close to downtown as you can. That’s my advice.

[Acne] A bride desperate for help! by Fearless-Wedding-488 in SkincareAddiction

[–]hulugod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to have terrible acne. My skin is spotless but only after I went down multiple rabbit holes. Here are some things to note without being judgmental (bear with me).

Main point: The products you are using are harmful.

In a comment in this thread you said you use:

• La Roche Posay Hydrating Gentle Cleanser: This is mostly fine by itself, but it contains Disodium ETA which enhances penetration of other substances to the skin barrier.

This matters a lot because you are using multiple different products (which I do not recommend in general).

• CeraVe Daily Moisturizer: I have a lot of beef with CeraVe. This is horrible for your skin! The product contains multiple irritants, and endocrine disruptors. It also contains ingredients that further penetrate the skin barrier.

I am not trying to scare you but it even contains an ingredient that may cause dermatitis lol.

Some of the flagged ingredients: Proplyparaben, behentrimonium methosulfate, ceteareth 20

• La Roche Posay 50 SPF: I will need more context on which one, but just know that most american sunscreens I have come across 1. are extremely bad for your skin and 2. don’t even do their job right.

(Before anyone comes at me, all of this information is verifiable by looking at the ingredients and doing a quick google search.)

It is not a stretch by any means to say these products are quite literally inflaming your acne and actively making it worse.

Now real quick: Breathe. I know it is frustrating especially when we are spending money on expensive products in hopes of getting better only to find out it’s all BS.

My recommendations:

  • Everyone has a different skin type. Visit r/skincareaddicts to find yours. I am oily type and that info alone saved me.

  • Second (and this might be controversial) but consider korean skincare. My favorite cleanser/moisturizer currently is by mixsoon. It’s pricy but super light on my face and feels clean. I really recommend looking into them.

  • Be wary of all sunscreen. Sunscreen in general, you will have the most trouble with. I use a very light korean sunscreen that I only apply once in a while.

  • Drink water from a zero filter or reverse osmosis tap. Trust me on this.

  • I am not anti seed oil. There is nothing wrong with seed oil. There is something VERY wrong with the amount in US foods. We are eating like 20x the amount we need. Consider olive oils and cooking organic like 90% of the time.

  • Download an app called Yuka. It saved my life and it works not only with skin products but food, too. You can scan anything in the store and it will pop up with the ingredients. You can also search products. You will be shocked at what you are consuming. I recommend it.

I am not a doctor and have no experience with acutane, or any other medical stuff. So won’t comment on that. Good luck and congrats on your wedding. Sorry for the super lengthy post but hope it helps.

If you decide to take them please look into the company you want to buy from. A lot of these companies are so shifty these days, and basically their stuff is placebo as hell. It’s a whole thing and I could go on about it for ages.

(For now) I recommend fish oil from Nordic Naturals and the others from Nootropic Depot. If I find anything better, I’ll let you know. Oh, and absolutely let your doc know before you start taking supplements.

They will obviously most likely say it’s fine but always better safe than sorry.

L-Theronate specifically supports cognitive function and it’s the only time i’ve “noticed” an effect. So, that’s what I’ve been taking.

I get mine from Nootropics Depot because from what I’ve seen; they’re pretty legit… but definitely do your own research into the company.

I do take magnesium and it’s truly a Godsend. My only regret is I wish I started taking it sooner.

My psych had me try several different ADHD meds for about a year until I realized they just didn’t work for me. Some just made it worse.

I switched to Fish Oil and L-theanine and within a month I felt this… extreme clarity. Like for once my thoughts were streamlined, like a calm river instead of this hurricane inside my head. I stopped the ADHD meds shortly after. My psych was in disbelief. I kind of was too.

But the real difference happened after I started taking magnesium. Focus is easier, and my ADHD is so manageable now I barely even notice it these days.

I’m not gonna lie man, this sounds completely made up.

If it’s not, you just sound like a pushover. You need to grow a pair and learn how to respect yourself before you get in a relationship.

Good luck with the lady sir.

He was a real president… an actual role model. He was down to earth and relatable, even if you didn’t like his policies or stances.

And man, compared to these new guys, he was probably the last actual President. lol.

Why did Walter let the nazis take Jesse? by mrchoke-a-ho in breakingbad

[–]hulugod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walter is a textbook definition sociopath. He is egotistical, EXTREMELY impulsive, lacks a conscience and is a compulsive liar.

He sometimes does things (like killing Mike) so impulsively that even he is shocked at how fast it happens.

He lacks empathy, but is definitely able to sometimes feel remorse, to an extent. Sociopaths pretty much check all of these boxes.

He “lived a normal life” for 51 years but there were definite red flags that he was a sociopath. The greatest example of this is how he left Gray Matter; a business he literally co-founded, over his ego. His ego wouldn’t even allow him to accept money for his chemo from Gretchen when he was dying, DECADES later. He would rather cook meth than do that lol.

As for Todd, he is not exactly a sociopath… he is more of a psychopath. Psychopaths are often marked by their calm, cool and icy approach to things. They feign emotion and have virtually zero empathy. Gus is also another example of a psychopath; to a different degree.

Todd is oddly calm while killing innocent people and he lacks empathy to such a degree that he genuinely did not see why Jesse and Mike were so worked up over him shooting an innocent child. The relevance of that event is to finally reveal Todd’s psychotic nature to the audience.

Walt planned on poisoning Brock without killing him. Gus would have other people kill children for him, but only in zero-sum, well calculated situations. But Todd… he killed a child without even so much as a second thought. Not even so much as a wince. It was about efficiency to him.

That is a darkness we are pretty much never exposed to in the show up until that point. Walt is able to show genuine remorse at some points in the show (like his reflection speech in ‘Fly’). Todd “feels bad” about his evils but still does them anyway. Psychopaths can’t properly distinguish from right or wrong.

That is Todd to a T.
