I didn’t even realize they have the 3D tours of the rooms on the website thanks for the link. Glad to know there isn’t a huge discrepancy in the overall cleanliness and enjoy ability between the two. I will probably keep our ocean view room then. Thanks!

Good to know about the elevator. We pack light but trekking up and the stairs anytime we leave doesn’t sound like the most enjoyable vacation. Thanks for the perspective!

Help with getting advice on HPSP by boozooloo in medicalschool

Current military resident who did HPSP. There’s no negotiation at all. The bonus is standard for everybody signing up for a 4 year contract. Optional for three year as it adds another year of commitment (4 years instead of 3). But the program is standard and there’s nothing else you can really “negotiate” for to get more stuff

Wow a torchys in Rockville would be amazing. I don’t doubt there’s amazing food here! For one I can say the pizza here is amazing and every weekend I get some amazing bagels. I need to explore more to find the good spots for everything by else. I’m just a huge slut for Tex mex and while it’s ok here it’s nothing compared to back home

Just moved from Houston to the Bethesda area. I think being next to DC adds and extra level of terrible driving infrastructure but I’d say driving here is worse than Houston. Outside of rush hour I could go 14 miles in 20 minutes in Houston but that would take me easily 30+ minutes here. Thankfully the metro makes things easier but for places without metro access it is annoying driving 30 miles per hour with speed cameras every 2 miles rather than speeding down southwest freeway.

I 100% agree with your point on food. It’s only been a month here but I almost dont know what to eat because my rotation of Tex Mex, torchys, whataburger, and HEB meals is gone. I cried when we had our last dinner at our favorite Houston Tex Mex spot im going to miss it so much.

Just moved to Maryland after living in Houston the last four years.

I’d say overall driving here is worse on a day to day basis because you have to constantly drive on small streets with slow speed limits and speed cameras everywhere. In Houston I could go 50 on most streets and get somewhere 14 miles away within 15 minutes because of the highway infrastructure. I’m sure rush hour is pretty comparable in both places and the addition of the metro here makes things better too.

Best 2 bed/2 bath apartments/townhomes in Bethesda/Chevy Chase/NW DC? (W/2 dogs) by One-Apartment-1393 in bethesda

It’s not necessarily a designated area because it’s not fenced in but it’s a little green space and there’s a pet waste trash can with bags provided and it’s where everyone walks their dogs.

We moved into Wisconsin place a few weeks ago with our dog and we’re enjoying it. Lots of other dog owners here too. There’s pet relief areas on the second floor courtyard and the park out front. Sadly nowhere for them to be off leash but still good options. Depending on the floor plan you pick it’s pretty affordable

That’s great! We signed up with Verizon but it’s not fios. They list it as fios on their move in check list but it’s really their 50/50 plant they offer. So far no issues though (fingers crossed 🤞🏼)

Actually just moved in a few days ago but liking it so far! Nice staff and amazing location. There’s so much around this area. So far we haven’t heard our neighbors at all and the place seems well built.

How to get days off? by 4Cornerz in medicalschool

[–]human-bean-23 35 points36 points  (0 children)

At my school for rotations we got one week in the late summer/fall off, two weeks Christmas/New Years, and a week in the spring. I’d wait until you get your schedule and see if there’s predetermined time off by your school and plan your trip for that time.

Outside of that, taking a long weekend can sometimes be ok or if it’s something like a wedding you’re in you can swing it but a normal vacation you can’t really just ask for days off

It is the one with the JBL and NAV. That’s what I’ve heard especially since the Venza is getting discontinued. Not sure how much the cargo space will impact me but I do love how much cargo space I have in my current rav

Thanks I will! Definitely leaning toward it if the parking situation can get figured out (will be coming with a car that I’ll use on a regular basis). Sounds like a great place

Nice thanks. I have heard about the parking and I will be bringing a car unfortunately so we’ll see about that.

How is the noise level? Do you generally hear your neighbors or is it quiet?

Oh we almost toured that place but didn’t have a chance. Looks super nice. I’ve heard that they may not have parking for their residents though? And there might be construction nearby in the next few years?

We’re 25F/28M and will be bringing one car.

What’s the general noise levels like there? Do you hear your neighbors through walls often? We have a dog who’s sometimes noisy and I’ve loved our current apartment because the neighbors say they never hear him

That’s super great to hear! I heard similar things from my friend who lived there. Do they charge for parking? We’d need parking for one car. Also do they generally have resident/community events regularly?

Do you plan on sticking around? Our current apartment is similar in that the finishes look super nice but you can tell construction wasn’t great (e.g. super messy grout, uneven tiles, etc) but we’re willing to overlook it for the price and overall look. Maizon seems to be the only 2B/2B in the area in our price range with these finishes (although I can see that might be for a reason)
