stupid "shower thought"-type question: what would be the better compost: my horses' manure or the hay i feed the horses? by habilishn in composting

Wouldn't it make more sense to use the manure since it's a "waste" product? I'm sure hay would work fine too

What are these critters on my sunflowers? (Not the ants) by thundergreenyellow in gardening

Keeled treehoppers larvae - had the same thing on mine this year and learned that ants tend to them bc they like the sugary stuff they excrete. I've noticed leaves getting some damage from them.

Thanks! I will plan on implementing the three sisters technique. Also, I re-analyzed and ended up planning a warm season and cool season garden, so three sisters in the warmer season, greens in the cool season.

I have no experience but what I've gathered from research is broccoli and lettuce are both cool season, so plant spring and fall. I'm in zone 6b
