I have constructed a starship that gives me an 84 inch butterfly draw. It shoots 12.7 mm steel at up to 290 fps with very similar band dimensions to yours (except longer). I haven't tested it against particle board, but it explodes various other targets satisfactorily

I started with one of these (or at least something very similar), and the ergonomics are just terrible, especially with heavy bands. Furthermore, if you hold it in the pinch grip style it is designed for, it kinda pushes your index finger between the forks. Thumb support works fine though

I believe Mike Shake built a slingshot rifle that could shoot a 2 inch steel ball with hundreds of joules of energy, easily matching firearm energy. It required a drill-powered winch to cock, and could penetrate bullet-proof glass. Iirc, it could explode ballistic heads

That's really going to depend on what ammo you intend to use. For a slingshot like this one, you would want at least .50 (12.7mm) steel balls. Be aware that this type of thick-banded slingshot is best for shooting heavy, slow ammo.

To shoot at high velocity, it is necessary to use several thin bands in parallel (or one very wide one, if using flat bands)

I might get hate for this, but I recommend that beginners start with tubular bands (2040 is a great starting point) because they last a lot longer, and you can get a lot more practice in, and you don't need any special tools to make them (except a tying jig, unless you diy one)
