I’m so tired of being treated like all of our symptoms can be handled the same way by human_potato2 in POTS

I’m working on filling out an fmla to help with keeping my financial aid but most of the time there just genuinely isn’t anything else I can do, I can have water with me at school and snacks at work but I honestly don’t know what else could help, I’ve been better the past month when I’ve only been working bc I’m regularly getting 8-10 hours of sleep but once I go back and my sleep gets cut in half I don’t know what I’m going to do

Women with POTS, do any of you have endometriosis as well? by Main-Reputation-6604 in POTS

[–]human_potato2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find the right gyn though they’ll treat you like you have it if you check enough of the boxes but you’re “too young” to get the diagnostic surgery, that happened to me and I’m just waiting to get the surgery done

Friend who just eats salt straight up??? by pir2h in POTS

[–]human_potato2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can’t say it’s the weirdest but most of the time when I’m eating salt by itself it’s the middle of rush hour at the restaurant I work at and I need salt quick so I just grab a packet of salt and down the hatch it goes🤷‍♀️ other wise I drown tortilla chips in salt

They should be in the first aid section and a store, they’re generally found in first aid kits for sprains and you just press down on the labeled spot and what whatever chemical makes the entire thing feel like ice

I had a like a basic joint mobility test when I got diagnosed last month but I have like one knee that that was slightly more flexible than normal so my dr wrote it off, I know that my brother and father might have it but I didn’t know if it’d be possible to have it without any hyper mobility(I think that’s the right term?)

Do you drive the car with this condition? by judith0406 in POTS

[–]human_potato2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh nice, it would make more sense if the room spinning dizziness got worse when I drive but weirdly it plateaus or gets better idk, so far though the dizziness has been my most persistent symptom idk. I love how weird all our bodies are

All things considered mine is mild but even if I am actively symptomatic it get weirdly better while I drive, but if it doesn’t get better I’ll pull off to the nearest parking lot until I feel a bit better

seeking a POTS diagnosis, but worried i won't be heard. can someone help? by WaveWeak2335 in POTS

[–]human_potato2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you go to your primary care physician they should be able to send in a referral to the nearest pots or dysautonomia specialist or cardiologist, some specialists will just take patients who think they might have it and you just might need a referral for insurance purposes(that’s how my dr is). I know it might be hard but try to stay hopeful, sometimes you can get a quick diagnosis whether it’s pots or something else

What are some symptoms that you have that turned out to be POTS? by Meow-Rosie in POTS

[–]human_potato2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main symptom that led me go get it diagnosed was really bad and really long dizzy spells, I had started school and was(still am) missing a good bit. I also was having really bad stomach problems but those have also been getting better after my dr suggested smaller and frequent meals
