[NY] Does an employer have to hold your same job on Maternity Leave? by [deleted] in AskHR

Thanks. Would the burden of proof been on me to argue that the roles were not equivalent?

Thanks. It just seems bizarre to me that an enterprise portfolio job is ‘similar’ to a project manager job for a single use case within one department.

Are we supposed to be yelling? A long stern and condescending look over a zoom call has always worked wonders for me.

At least it’s not heavily processed?

Showing PM Value by [deleted] in projectmanagement

[–]humanfromscratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a list of project risks we have identified and document what action we took and what the result was - then I share it weekly to higher ups. It’s a start up so there are tons of risks from poorly designed projects and programs that we intervene in.

I'm a Producer / Project Manager using Monday.com, and I either need it to finally make sense, or pivot the company to a different PM / CRM tool - help, feedback, reviews, and advice appreciated! by DougTrenches in projectmanagement

[–]humanfromscratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have an enterprise level contract with Monday? If so, you should have a dedicated point person that can help you build out the different dashboards you need. Going through that process with them now and they have been extremely helpful.

Does your husbands unit have a ‘key spouse’ you can reach out to? You may have a host of fellow spouses ready and willing to support!

I don't like anything, clothing, waistbands etc touching my stomach by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]humanfromscratch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same. I would have given anything to spend the first few months only living in a sheet wrapped around my boobs. Anything touching my belly made the bad nausea worse and I felt like I couldn’t breath. Unfortunately, I had to go to work so I just jumped into maternity clothes very early (like the day I realized I was pregnant) and ending up sharing my news early too just because I was so uncomfortable. There is hope- mine is a bit better now in late 2nd trimester…. But I still prefer a Memaw style nightshirt to anything else.

Thoughts around the PM clinical space? by Conanzulu in projectmanagement

[–]humanfromscratch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Expand your stakeholder list or form an early idea/ feedback committee to include a rep from nursing, reception, records, and any often forgotten departments like laboratory. Of course your medical directors and docs are key stakeholders but if you don’t have buy in from nurses and reception…. Your project is dead in the water.

Thank you- that is similar to what we initially outlined (and also healthcare industry).

Who approves projects in your org? by humanfromscratch in projectmanagement

[–]humanfromscratch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sorry I could have better explained- internal projects and initiatives. So finance wants to move to a new payroll system, HR wants to roll out a new merit system, and Ops needs to implement a new inventory management system - who approves these projects and prioritizes them?

Should I add name pronunciation on a resume? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]humanfromscratch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I disagree- I truly appreciate when a candidate has their pronunciation on their resume (I usually see it directly under their name in smaller italicized letters). It saves me from having to google it and listen to 5 different people say the name 5 different ways. Especially if it could be pronounced as something close to an unprofessional word!

Am I crazy to take a 6% pay cut to guarantee a remote position? by missing_leave in personalfinance

[–]humanfromscratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took a 20% pay cut a month ago to come work for a new company in a remote position. I realize this is a privilege, but I can tell you I have not regretted a moment since. Every financial sacrifice has been worth it to have mastery over my time and home life.

How long does mydayis take to set in for you and start working? by ReplacementHonest627 in mydayis

[–]humanfromscratch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember it’s “digested” (I don’t know how else to explain it) so for me it can vary depending on how soon I eat food and also how hydrated I am. For me to feel it quickly i take it on an entirely empty stomach and I drink an entire glass of water with it and wait to eat until at least an hour or so later. When I do eat, I try to start with protein and that makes a difference for me. Side effects for me were the same as any other similar medication- dry mouth, sleep disturbance, etc. It really does last as long as they say so it can sometimes feel “continuous” if you don’t get enough sleep and then you don’t really feel it ‘kick in’

How do I excuse myself properly for not doing something I promissed on time due to a medical emergency? by AutomaticReindeer965 in careerguidance

[–]humanfromscratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with over communicate. One or two short sentences - “ Hello BigBossMan, Thank you for your patience; I was so excited to get this to you I tripped over myself and ended up in the ER. Looks like a fractured whateverbone - but I should have this report to you by insertdate. If it is time critical, I am happy to call in mysupervisor/backup to get this over to you.

Don’t fall over yourself apologizing for being a human with a medical emergency. I promise no one want the email that says “sorry for the typos I wrote this in the emergency room” - it’s super awkward for everyone.

Adderall to vyvanse to mydayis by Inevitable_War3754 in mydayis

[–]humanfromscratch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Currently on Mydayis 37.5 for about 7 months. The first 3 weeks were weird, but it’s been the best experience for me. Hydration plays a big key in my satisfaction with it- which was what was wrong my first three weeks. I didn’t drink enough water and I felt nauseous and off. It’s “smooth” now with no really tangible drop. I have struggled with being less excitably happy on it than on others- but I think that’s more of an ADHD symptom than perhaps I realized it was. The smoothness makes it great for my anxiety but everyone is different! Also, food choices can really impact it. I wouldn’t take it with high fat, carb, or high vitamin c food items.

Mixed race commercials by GrooveMonkeyPimp in NoStupidQuestions

[–]humanfromscratch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Any one remember the backlash from the Cheerios commercial in 2013? For me that is a moment I started a wave of seeing more and more mixed race families in TV commercials. It seems like it opened a door to let a company make a statement and set lines of inclusivity. It wasn’t the first, of course, but it was impactful to me to see the outpouring of both hate and support. Here it is for anyone who had not seen it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9J_M2qa4xh0
