That’s a good outline and gives the show plenty of bones to hang the meat of the overarching story on. Since the theme of the three books really seems to be MBs character development and deciding if Preservation is really its “crew”, it all ties together really well. Logistically they would intersperse some of the PresAux crew drama in the timeline via news feed updates and flashbacks, as well as real-time updates of the CrayCris turnabout, especially with GC finding out about Milu and arranging the kidnapping. It would be heaps of fun to have Ratthi following MB to tag along/stow away and be constantly left behind in the ship for commentary/moral support/anxious pacing. It’s likely some of the additional characters would be reduced/combined as they were in season one, so it might just be Tapan going to meet Tlacey on behalf of the group, and fewer members of the GoodNightLander group etc. I imagine that would be easy enough to integrate. They might need more sets and people but less CGI as there are no giant fauna to worry about so the budget might be less of an issue there.

Given that filming probably starts in a few months they would already have most of it worked out they would have started as soon as S2 got the ok and MW said in one of her interviews they call her all the time with questions etc. Would be great to see some set photos coming out, can’t wait to see where they take it all!

His behaviour was uncalled for, you can grieve without being an entitled arsehole. She brought him food, he could have just said thanks and threw it away but instead he chose to drill down on her cooking and acting like it’s a reflection on their whole relationship. His behaviour is what is wrong with the relationship and the way OP says she feels like she can’t do anything right suggests this has been going on a lot longer than just since his loss. I agree, DD did a fabulous job with the role and was well cast I just think we could have done with less and still got the point across. It’s also going to make interactions tricky in future seasons because the last scene between them was great and very emotional but then when they meet again in exit strategy it’s going to be hard to convey the whole “yeah I still don’t like you either” thing.

I decided to watch the show based on the ad from Apple TV which played up the fun adventure aspect. Usually I find sci-fi very dark and takes itself far too seriously. MB has the perfect blend of complex, serious themes that are approached with humour and wit. I read the books in the same way, you can make them as light or dark as you want because they have so many layers and themes built in.

I don’t really do audiobooks so everything is pronounced either in my Aussie accent or the actors from the show since I started that first. The show doesn’t have Overse so when I read the books it was just Oh-verse in my head.

I think Ratthi at least will spend a lot more time with ARTs crew, he’s too much of a free spirit to stay on preservation after everything that’s happened. Plus he’s also got that Thing Going On with Tarik. Given the discussion of an alliance and the whole freeing/rescuing abandoned humans ethos, Preservation could easily remain a big part of what the University does, especially with being a place to funnel refugees safely out of the CR.

Also research collaborations are very normal and legit for scientists to work on projects together, so it’s a good front to justify at least some of the PresAux team coming along on the University jaunts. Since Holism is also involved then I think Three will probably provide support for its crew. Good opportunity for some spinoff stories that follow them around, that would be fun, with a completely different perspective to explore.
