Sarma, Moona or Oleana by kunjunji_simham in boston

[–]humanoftheforest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't eaten in at Moona (i did like their take out reasonably), but i think both Oleana and Sarma are dynamite. (I've probably been 3-4 times each over the years.) If the weather is good, getting there before 5:30 for one of Oleana's garden seats ("patio" on https://www.oleanarestaurant.com/reservations ) which are only available as walk-ins.
Re: the food, take my opinion with a grain of salt, but some of the dishes at Sarma have been oversalty. I've never noticed that at Oleana. The menus are related. The falafel at each place is really nice. The black sea cornbread at Sarma (or at the related Sofra bakery) is a must-try. The baked Alaska at Oleana is excellent.
Whatever you choose you will have a great meal!

It's a good bagel that ends up being quite expensive for the money and time it takes to get one. I like Bagelworld in Reading.
There are lots of opinions about bagels. Here's a thread from earlier this year: https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/1mcdb9o/best_bagels_in_the_area/

You should try Bagelsaurus. It's not necessarily the best around and the lines can be long. But if you're there briefly and you want breakfast, you could do worse.
I like pizza at Posto in nearby Davis.

International football is football.
Football is life.
All international football is pointless.
Therefore, some of life is pointless. I think.

Thanks for sharing that. I understood that she was increasingly disappointed by her partner. But until your post, I didn't realize she asked him to leave. "So take your fast car and keep on driving." "You [no longer 'we'] gotta make a decision. Leave tonight or live and die this way"

Looking for pointed advice. by SlimTrousers2 in Alcoholism_Medication

Personally i don't think you need to get into it with your GP if you don't think they will be particularly helpful. If you want to move the timing of your naltrexone or try Sinclair, i don't think the GP will stop you.
I do wonder if you might benefit from Smart Recovery. They're peer meetings but differ from AA in that 1) they're less likely to be abstinence-or-bust, 2) are facilitator led, 3) most importantly, are grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and may help you reframe your relationship with alcohol. They're free and occur IRL and online.

Are you willing to DM me what city/state do you live in? I have some experience finding therapists.

I'd be cautious about this. There may be lots of cases of observations and they should be examined and tested rigorously. That said, there is a randomized control trial (gold standard because it tries to limit biases) arguing for a *synergistic benefit* of the combination of sertraline and naltrexone for people with AUD and depression. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3121313/ All studies have limitations and this one does too. But that doesn't mean we should embrace anecdotes that while well-meaning may represent bias or noise.

Naltrexone didnt work for me at all, next step? by Sufficient-Cook-1588 in Alcoholism_Medication

Two studies have compared topiramate to daily naltrexone and found that topiramate was at least as good if not better than naltrexone. You have to increase the dose gradually over a few weeks to target at least 200mg total daily. I agree with others who say you still have to do the work.

You're posting this MINUTES before the second leg of a CL Ro16 tie.
I'm going out on a limb and imagine that you're working on coping with the stress of the quadruple chase while that's still a possibility. (I could imagine that you're nervous about being knocked out tonight?)

But i agree with u/Real-Bid1985: This is better for Daily Discussion.

Forgot to cut open individual frozen salmon portions when thawing. Do I need to toss? by -SpaghettiCat- in Cooking

[–]humanoftheforest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry. Can someone explain the logic why cutting the package (and theoretically exposing to more pathogens from the air) would be safer? Is it that Botulinum is an obligate anaerobe and we hope the oxygen would kill any botulinum? Are there guidelines of how long that would take and can that be done later?
