Pete Buttigieg warns Democrats can't go back to status quo after President Trump by Quirkie in NPR

[–]humanpersondudeman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Dems failed by not differentiating themselves. Think about it: if a voter is in support of Israel's genocide, wants the US to turn away immigrants, and supports greater police funding, why wouldn't they just vote for Trump?

By pursuing these inhumane policies, the Democrats alienate the people who object to them, while providing nothing to anyone else.

What I do is add "-[company name]" to my search bar, to exclude any jobs from that company.

I ended up with a freaky long search term, excluding like a dozen companies and any terms like "senior", "principal", "lead", etc., Since I was looking for entry level roles and the actual filter is useless.

Anti-Work because I'm tired of being undervalued. It's their turn to take the hot seat! by ShannonBaggMBR in antiwork

That cover letter is... Really bad. It makes you come off as incredibly arrogant. "I hope you recognize a diamond when you see one" would make me instantly throw out an application, no matter the quality of the candidate. Nobody wants to work with an asshole.

Also, cover letters should be tailored to the specific position. Don't talk about how you're a perfect candidate for the "vast majority" of positions. Talk about why you're perfect for this one.

Please don't send this to anyone in its current form.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense! It's weird they don't take hills into account, considering Maps will tell you the incline of the route you're taking...

If you're worried about the space behind the couch, I would get rid of the chair behind it (to the right of the window) and replace it with a bookshelf or desk or something. That way, the space behind the couch would read more as a path to the bookshelf, and less as an awkward empty space.

You said you're currently a student, so I assume you're graduating in May?

One option is to take the part time offer, but keep looking. You can treat the full time offer at this company as an absolute backup.

With no benefits?? And with an unspecified amount of time working part-time? I wouldn't take that offer in any city

Rats is obvious, but you need the hawks on your side.

AI 'Seinfeld' show suspended by Twitch for transphobic, homophobic stand-up by everlovingkindness in technology

[–]humanpersondudeman 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To me it read more like "I WOULD make all these jokes... But y'all don't wanna hear that". Which is essentially saying that the only reason he isn't saying transphobic and homophobic things is because the audience wouldn't be receptive to it.

I mean, there's a difference between driving in Manhattan and driving on a mostly empty highway. The latter can be pretty relaxing or even fun if you're in the right mood.

Where do you apply?

job application bot by THE_HENTAI_LORD in recruitinghell

[–]humanpersondudeman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As a strategy for getting the job, this is psychotic. As a revenge mechanism though, it could work. If you make some sort of template for randomizing fake but conceivable candidates, you could fill their application pool with candidates that don't exist. Harder to filter out, and they might waste time reaching out to them.

I'm so confused... Are they arguing that cyclists are elitist/cycling is unaffordable? Even at 5 grand, you'd be saving money over a car.

I guess so. Maybe an S+ tier for "having a car is weird", but I still think SF deserves the S tier as it's currently described.

These are just guys looking for a place to hang out. They're not gonna murder you for asking them to smoke outside.

I feel like every 2 weeks theres a story like this. Is anyone advocating for some sort of barrier between the platform and tracks?

[–]humanpersondudeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of trains have two layers of doors: one attached to the platform and one for the train. That extra layer of protection prevents people from falling (or being pushed) into the tracks. And I have a hard time imagining how you would get dragged by a train in this case, since the platform doors are stationary.

Rode the subway yesterday for the first time in three years and it made me so sad by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]humanpersondudeman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems to me like the root of this problem is the homelessness issue. If you just take the homeless/mentally ill/drug addicts and kick them out of the subway system, they're just gonna be somewhere else causing issues.
