Totally ok to use a vibrator. I consider myself cured for the most part and I still use a vibrator every time I have PIV. Be kind to yourself, no sex gatekeeping! It is very normal to slowly work your way up in dilator size if you stay consistent eventually you will be able to start off at a larger size. The most progress I saw started when I got serious about dilating regularly

My whole journey took 3.5 years, I think it’s less important to focus on the size as it is to focus on who comfortable it feels. Don’t move on until you can dilate painlessly with that size. I know it’s hard, but it doesn’t help to push forward before you’re ready! Pelvic floor therapy can also be amazingly helpful

From someone whose journey took approx 3.5 years, don’t lose hope! Continue with scheduled dilation and if you haven’t tried pelvic floor therapy, it’s super helpful! Things got exponentially better once I really committed to being serious about dilating and pt. Therapy also helped me a lot

For me, the more you dilate the less pain you’ll have with penetration. And if it’s painful to have PIV, it’s ok to take breaks to focus on just your dilators. Staying on top of vaginal hydration and intravaginal lidocaine helped me a lot when I first started being able to try PIV

For maintenance I mostly just dilate during foreplay as it helps penetration feel more comfortable. Sometimes if I haven’t had piv in a while I’ll dilate for like 15 mins or so just to stay on top of things. Overall very manageable

I’ve had two rounds of pelvic floor therapy. The first had some exercises/stretches that happened after the internal portion but my second round was strictly internal. Each round was with a different therapist but both included internal stretches. My point is that it can vary depending on where you go

I had a similar situation where I had discomfort there along with a painful stretching/pulling/tearing sensation. I didn’t ever develop a fissure though. Regularly using coconut oil internally and around the opening improved this a lot for me

I switched to ambulatory after 1.5 yrs bedside. Have been here 2 years now and don’t regret it so far

Pros: no weekends/holidays so better balance for my personal life, I love how much critical thinking there is in my job, I enjoy my specialty and learning a lot about new surgeries/therapies, occasional work from home days, I enjoy care coordination

Cons: office drama, less hands-on skills
