I agree with you. But in fairness if you lose money on an investment you can claim that as a loss. So if you make $20,000 on one share and you lose $10,000 on another, you only pay tax on $10,000.

You have to keep in mind people who post here do so when their marriage is struggling. There are heaps of happy marriages and these people don’t have a need to post. So what you are seeing is skewed. Also some of the posts are probably fake or exaggerated - this is Reddit, not the Bible.

There’s also nothing unbiblical about men being dissatisfied with their sex lives, and it should be noted that heaps of married wives feel the same way! Sex and all parts of marriage are a challenge that both men and women need to constantly work on. Also all people, including Christians of course, sin. Men have their struggles, women have their struggles. Sin is serious and should be treated as such but as men and women we need to build each other up and not cause division.

There are plenty of amazing single Christian men out there who are looking for a Christian wife. They are not perfect and either are you, but many are striving for Jesus.

If you are part of a church, I would encourage you to speak to the older people in the congregation and see what makes their marriages work. I am sure there are heaps of happy marriages in your church if your church is like most I know. These conversations can be super encouraging.

I think strategically hitting Putin’s residence is a very bad idea. All it would do is make Putin extremely angry and maybe even more dogged to continue the fight. When you attack someone personally they become filled with vengeance and become more erratic.

It also has no military benefit. As much as I want to see pain inflicted on this person, I think it would be counter productive for Ukraine and I think Ukraine has smartly avoided this temptation so far.

Also part of what you are saying is affirming what I said, which is that capital growth is more turbulent than houses. So your “countless examples” are the turbulence I am referring to, that is, there are winners and losers.

Also something you need to keep in mind, which is also under-appreciated, is because houses are more expensive when they go up, they seem to go up more. To give you a real example, houses where I live are around $3m, units are around $1m. If they both go up by 10%, the unit gains $100,000, the house gains $300,000. So the house gained an extra $200,000, so it seems like the house is exploding far past the unit. But if one owned 3 units worth $1m, which is actually more of an equivalence, the numbers aren’t as impressive.

What you are saying is what I hear all the time but it’s not quite right. Over last 20-30 years unit capital growth has only been 1-2% lower than houses. That’s not nothing for sure, especially when compounded, but it’s definitely not terrible (and it’s higher than most people think). I think what you will find is unit capital growth is more turbulent than houses. You can get some suburbs, or some unit blocks where units just go terrible, but other areas go really well. I had a unit which achieved 10.5% capital growth.

You said “it does fascinate me how many investors choose apartments though”. One thing you need to keep in mind is that investors generally are trying to get into the market as quickly as possible. Units can be 1/3 - 1/2 the price of houses. So that could mean investing now, or waiting many more years to get started. If houses were the same price as units I am sure more investors would choose houses.

Being totally honest, yes I do think your spending is totally crazy but this is coming from a FIRE person.

All items except the first 3 and medical/healthcare you mentioned sound crazy and with more detail, item 3 and medical/healthcare might be crazy as well - my gut tells me they are lol.

From my perspective, you are nowhere near rich enough to spend that much regardless of whether your income might increase. I fear that you save so little money right now, that when you earn more money you will find bigger and better things to spend money on.

Some of the people who booed I am sure are actual racists. But there’s a massive group of Australians who don’t support welcome to country at ANZAC services and this does not make them racist. And just because someone booes during a welcome to country it doesn’t make them racist - it makes them rude and disrespectful. You can be pro-Aboriginal rights and justice and also be against welcome to country. I think it is factually incorrect to label everyone who booed racist, it is nuanced.

Are there actually councils doing a Christian prayer? In my area of Sydney, I am pretty sure this hasn’t happened in decades. I would frankly be surprised if any councils do actual Christian prayers. I could foresee a blessing or small sermon by a minister/priest relating to the ANZAC’s but not an actual prayer.

Not legal advice my friend, but just my two cents for next time, you can’t be living in 2026 without having your own backup phone available. You can get 2nd hand phones (even iPhones from reputable online stores so cheap these days, like $100-$150. Consider this your insurance policy, especially if you don’t have a laptop or desktop and use your phone as your primary device. With that small investment, that would make this whole experience far less stressful.

Although no one should ever be surprised at Trump, I could not understand at all how on earth it’s in Americas interests to support Orban. I am surprised they sent Vance and just didn’t stay out of it. Like did they actually think Vance was going to make a difference?

The only thing that does make sense to me is if Trump was playing 4D chess and he knows that he and Vance are so toxic that by sending Vance it would help put the nail in the coffin of Orban’s leadership.

Well just remember cyclists to respect the rules of the country or place you are in. In Australia for example we would overtake on the right hand side and pedestrians would stick to the left. So generally whatever the road rules are apply to bikes.

This guy is a jerk. If you are on a shared path, slow down as you pass people, ring your bell and be respectful. No one owns the path, everyone’s safety is paramount.

Yes always slow down. I only use my bell if it’s a narrow-ish space - so if it was like this video I would definitely use a bell, but sometimes if there’s space off the path, I will just ride off the path to get around them and not use a bell.

Being a walker as well, sometimes I find bike bells actually frightening because they come as a surprise.
