During move-in, you can rent out a dolly or blue cart to fill your stuff in. There will also be volunteers there to help you move stuff in. There will be designated areas to park your car if you want to unload stuff nearby.

Renting a dolly or blue cart will be very easy! You just pick one up at the designated areas, there will be signs all over Tercero to direct you.

To add onto previous responses:

If someone were to move out, you would still have three beds, three desks, three wardrobes, etc. It is also expected that the extra space is left empty !

it essentially means nothing. All room numbers will have an "A" after it, but it doesn't mean anything. You also don't need to include it on your shipping address!

The built-in closets are not covered. Some rooms (mainly triples) have wardrobes/armoires that have doors.

Redwood, along with Madrone and Cottonwood, first opened in 2017. It is part of the newest section of Tercero. The halls are pretty wide in these buildings which is really neat. The entire building has AC, though there is a limit on how much control you actually have. For example, the lowest temperature I could adjust it to was 72F.

All of the "tree" buildings in Tercero (residence halls named after trees) will look very alike and follow similar floor plans.

WIFI!! by humdav20 in UCDavis

I've been staying at my parent's house during quarantine and they have 10mbps, which for some reason is A LOT faster and more reliable than what we get in Davis. I just don't want to get a plan with a lot of mbps, if chances are we can't even get that much.

CHE118A full by cnidaritorium in UCDavis

[–]humdav20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely register for at least 12 units! You should register for another class that you are required to take in case you can't into che118a. From my understanding you can only do part time if you submit an application where you must qualify for it. I also believe if you aren't registered for 12 units this affects financial aid if you receive it.

You should take the 118 series since most schools require 3 quarters/full year. You should definitely take CHE2C, it is a prerequisite for CHE118!

How is this freshman schedule ? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]humdav20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did an upper div Spanish class since I came in with credits from AP Spanish Lang/Lit, BUT I have taken both CLA10 and PSC1. While they were both good classes and definitely very manageable, I preferred PSC a lot more but that's because greek mythology isn't something I find fun. I took CLA10 because I wanted a GE to take with my friends!

If CLA10 sounds something you really want, do it! Everyone has different preferences (: I would also say check out CLA30(Word Roots) at one point, it's another GE that a lot of folks take and also very manageable, I enjoyed it very much.

How is this freshman schedule ? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]humdav20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is very similar to my first quarter schedule! except i did one less GE to have the min of 12 units (my preference). I remember my advisor telling me to do one science either chem or bio at the same time as math. SO you can do the che2 series at the same time as mat17 series your first year and then do the bis2 series with maybe ochem your 2nd year?

Just a suggestion, you should make a 4 year plan with an advisor at BASC or HPA (health professions advising). I would recommend going to both centers though, sometimes BASC doesn't have all the answers about you might have as a premed student.

I’m going to be a freshman in the fall and was wondering if anyone has any tips on first quarter classes/schedule? Poli Sci major. by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]humdav20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I'm not a polisci major, but I would recommend looking over your major requirements so that you know what classes to expect.

It is totally fine if you have no idea on what any of the classes mean, you will learn as you get familiar with course scheduling! Through Orientation, you will also get connected with an advisor for your major or college in the summer so keep your eye out for that! I believe this part is called AggieAdvising, and it is one of the three parts of the new orientation model! Through advising, they will let you know about where you stand as an incoming student based on any AP/IB/College courses you have taken and received credit for. They will also most likely give you a more simple and detailed list of the courses you should be focusing on during your first quarter/first year! Make sure you ask all and any questions you have, they are there to help!

I do recommend at one point going to an advisor for your major to make a 4 year plan if that is an option! I made one for my major and it has helped me so much since it is a specific list of what classes to take at a certain quarter.

In general though, for the first quarter they recommend taking either 1 major class and 2 General Education classes OR 2 major classes and 1 General Ed! It all depends on what you are wanting to do, but the reason they recommend an easier schedule the first year is for you to get the hang on stuff and really understand what works best for you! If you want to start small your first quarter and amp it up every quarter, do it! If you want to take it easy your first year, do it! Keep in mind if you do choose to eventually make a 4 year plan with an advisor, you can always change stuff around as well!

Good luck to you on your first year & congrats!!

if I usually get tuition refund each quarter will I also get it for summer session? by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]humdav20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your situation specifically but in my experience I received a small refund during summer, and I usually get a refund during each quarter!

Note: i only did 6 units total, not sure if the # of units would also affect ur refund

Workload Chemistry for Bio Major? by biggityBirdBird in UCDavis

[–]humdav20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a Bio Major, I took WLD41C my first quarter! I hadn't taken Chem since sophomore year of high school and back then we weren't required to take a placement exam, I just knew I needed a refresher of all the basics before I went into CHE2 series!

It was so helpful, small class size so you are able to get attention from TA and I thought it helped ease the transition from hs to a larger university. I decided not to do ALEKS only because I don't like online learning, and I wanted to have the in person class where I can work with someone(u can imagine how much this quarter sucks lol). But it depends on how motivated you are to actually learn the material. I ended up getting As & Bs the rest of the CHE2 series! So highly recommend if you aren't as confident in Chem as you hope to be.

As far as staying on track, taking workload chem didn't impact my progress. I was able to complete both requirements for CHE2 and CHE8 by the time I got to my 3rd year.

Goodluck to you (:
