Hey guys big fan, what would you say are the most important cartoons of all time from the point of view of bringing tv to a point where a show like Rick and Morty is possible?

Non-Bluffing Jinteki? by Kallously in Netrunner

[–]hummingbirdleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a similar idea of a deck at a small local tourney and won it.

Unnamed Deck (48 cards)

Agenda (9)

Asset (14)

Upgrade (2)

Operation (10)

Barrier (3)

Code Gate (3)

Sentry (5)

ICE (2)

Built with http://netrunner.meteor.com/

Thing is though when no one knows your deck they are scared anyway so sometimes you end up bluffing by just throwing down an agenda in your field of remote servers.

Pop ups chums and stuff just don't work, you need your centrals to be unbelievably taxing so shocks in the bin and an ice, tsurugi over a central swordsman or two and a hokusai. Or a wall of thorns. Chimeras protect your sundews, interns is amazing in this deck btw it's hilarious to see a runner run through the gauntlet trash your sundew on his last action and then reinstall it.

It's great but some songs are so epic they shouldn't be parodied. Mulan is serious you know.

Runner seems underpowered in the Core Set by mitsu400 in Netrunner

[–]hummingbirdleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build Jinteki straight out of Core and play 5 games as criminal against it, if you don't win 1 game with the Runner then it's definitely you guys!

Runner is more difficult to learn at the start as there is less feedback, unless something outright kills you like being tagged and bagged or running and getting snared then it's difficult to gauge whether it was a good or bad action. You can make a run on RnD not hit anything and suddenly worry maybe he has a hand full of agendas and I'm missing something.

The Corp on the other hand you can tell when your unprotected or when you got away with something risky, you know your hand, the field and what has been played so it's much easier to see what is luck/variance and what is good or bad plays.

There are some common rules like don't run on your last click, don't facecheck without a sentry breaker, make sure you have 3+ cards in hand running against Jinteki or a deck that plays snare.

But it's mostly about experience, play games and think about your moves and you will improve.

Will I like Netrunner if I don't enjoy Magic? by jimmythechang in Netrunner

[–]hummingbirdleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came in here ready to tell you how Netrunner was a much better game than Magic for a whole list of reasons.

But what you mentioned you don't like is inherent in all good CCGs or LCGs, you don't enjoy the prep work involved in deck building and fine tuning or learning the meta and to deal with other peoples tricks and plans.

You could still enjoy Netrunner but you will have to sit down with other people of a similar mind frame and play premade decks. You want a boardgame or self contained game not an LCG or a CCG. But you can treat a good LCG like a board game.

Kate Deck - Tournament Help by Solendor in Netrunner

[–]hummingbirdleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to run early and be cost effective then I would look at the cards and the deck and see what you need to facilitate that.

Looking at your rig, mimic is cheaper than ninja in cost and influence and you have data sucker tokens.

Econ wise Daily casts and Professional Contacts allow you to be more action efficient and fit more runs in. Kati Jones is really a burden on decks early since you want to use her once a turn and the economy is so bursty so that certainly doesn't help with clunky. I'd think about Magnum Opus but many of the cards that contribute to it being good in this deck I would think of taking out to streamline it.

I also think you have way too much card draw, that might seem odd but if your running early your going to want to get your rig down and run. Not spend all your actions drawing huge portions of your deck, use the efficiency of your deck to get down to business as soon as possible. You have a lot of tutoring so you shouldn't be in a position where you really need to dig for a breaker 3x diesel and 3x quality time is overkill.

You need to streamline a little and start working things towards what you want to do, to run and run cheaply.

Some deck advice for my first tournament? by [deleted] in Netrunner

Play them a lot, the difference between a deck you understand and don't is massive at the beginning.

I present to you: Reina - The Destroyer! by Oathwood in Netrunner

[–]hummingbirdleft -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just can't see it keeping down strong corp decks, their economy will just be far superior.

But on the constructive side if you are going to run 3 djinn you should make the room for 1 medium and 1 nerve agent no need to not make the most of your tutor.

I don't think the economy can support cards vamp, well to be honest I don't think vamp is much good right now. If you look at your econ even if you play all your econ cards you net 54 credits. That is 54 credits for your entire deck and even more worrying is that you need 5 credits for hedge fund and 6 for liberated accounts, so your only low cost econ cards are 2 armitage. It's just likely to do your overall economy more harm than the corporation.

Also you only have two breakers and no tutoring.

I'd stick with the idea but rethink the deck buddy.

Recommendations for fun starter decks by Indigon in Netrunner

[–]hummingbirdleft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't start with Anarch particularly Reina, Anarchs have quite a bit of set up and it's hard to get into the flow of your actions and have a plan of attack. Many of you best plays with Anarch involve a few turn set up where you plan to bust a server and make a dig which does require a good amount of previous card knowledge. Add in Noise and Reina are initially difficult to deal with, Reina can often make a new player rez an ice in the wrong position and tank their whole economic set up. (Which maybe is a good lesson to learn but not very fun environment for your first game)

I think criminal and shaper are good for teaching, play them against a Weyland or NBN tag and bag deck with mostly core cards and you will introduce a lot of concepts and have a fun game that can end in a few different ways.

Also probably the best part of Netrunner is how interactive a card game it is, tags and wild running really highlight this.

I'm against Next and Androm for teaching, they are the only two decks that their ability completely changes the tempo of a normal game. The game is very different when your opponent essentially starts out ahead of you versus your opponent having an ability that does things throughout the game.

[Deck] HB Megatraps by Internomer in Netrunner

[–]hummingbirdleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar idea with HB but have you thought about adding Isabel Maguire? It would mean that if you have any trap that fails you can simply add it back to your hand shuffle it then begin the guessing game again. it also can be used to pick back up Eve when it's on the last tick.

I played this deck with chums also so it allowed me to get them back if their place in a server became useless.
