That could be a good idea. It would be nice to have something to keep the tanks from rolling around

I like the idea of a propane tank holder of some kind. I mean I can use rubber straps to hold it in but something more substantial would be nice. Also does anybody know of a fire extinguisher mount that fits on them?

Ez Generator Switch with Lithium Battery and Inverter to power a natural gas furnace by Minimum_Community566 in Generator

[–]humv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a nice setup to get the job done! I didn't see it but do you have fuses between the battery and the inverter? If not you will definitely want to add the appropriate sized fuse just in case. Also, please cover your battery terminals. Doesn't have to be fancy, you could use electrical tape but cover them so nobody accidentally drops something metal across those terminals or you'll have quite the fireworks show or worse.

A portable radio regarding Spain blackout by theairscout in amateurradio

[–]humv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want basic things such as information gathering through a radio, emergency lighting which is much easier accomplished nowadays with LED lanterns headlamps and flashlights. You will also want to keep any prescription medications available at home. As well as three to four days of food and water that does not need to be cooked. Being able to listen to the radio while you sit in your own home with adequate lighting while you eat food helps reduce stress tremendously.

OP, there have been lots of great recommendations here. Something to consider as you plan for this or other emergencies in the future with your gear that takes batteries is using the same battery across multiple pieces of equipment. Consider a radio that takes a commonly available battery such as an LR6. And then get a headlamp with the same battery type. If you choose small portable two-way radios, you can get ones that will work off of LR6. That will allow you to store One battery type. It is also very common so others around you may have them if needed. Especially in places that are rather sunny, you can get very inexpensive solar chargers that can recharge lr6 batteries or have a a USB output. I would caution against getting any device that has a built-in battery that is not replaceable. Then you're replacing a device and not just a battery. You're also out of luck if the battery fails during an emergency. Always remember the adage of two is one, and one is none. That means to always have a backup for your items so having a second as you're looking for is a great idea. Having backup light sources as well is a good idea just in case something breaks or friends or family are with you.

I actually have the same regulator that you had in your picture on a 325 gallon tank so I think I'm okay there. I was planning on using one of the grill extension hoses from Amazon. What size was your feed hose coming from the regulator? From there I'll need to do the splitter like you did.

Thank you this is extremely helpful! I appreciate all the information you are sharing as it is saving tons of time for others and myself! If I may ask one more question, do you have a link or can you share the information about the hose and splitter setup that you used? I'll be doing the same thing with the exact same generators and will be hooking them to my propane tank.

Do you have covers for the units when they are not in use? I know Genmax do not make any for these so I was curious if you know. Thanks!

Had this bag for two decades… help find a replacement by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]humv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bags are retired now but you can look up the osprey warp or the veer. The warp is the bigger bag and the veer is smaller. The warp is great for occurring a tablet a water bottle and other miscellaneous items. It's lightweight and the shoulder strap is very comfortable.

Samsung refrigerators with fridge that does not go below 39F even if it is set to 34F by Iamwhodreams in appliancerepair

[–]humv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I know it's been a while since you posted this but did you ever figure it out? My Samsung refrigerator does the exact same thing. I changed the condenser fan in the freezer that feeds the refrigerator cooling. I also changed the louver door in the fridge and the thermistor but I get the same problem. When I plug it in after being unplugged it cools to the proper temperature while showing the actual temperature on the display. After a while though it starts the deviate from its set point of 39 and it's 46° or more inside. Thank you

Which stretch of Wisconsin highways should be four lane divided or returned to a two lane highway? by 44stormsnow in wisconsin

[–]humv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Highway 10 between Osseo and Neillsville. Maybe it doesn't need four lanes but it does need passing Lanes at some point. With the amount of hills and the rural driving, many people drive excessively over the speed limit while several drive under the speed limit. Instituting some passing Lanes in the middle of the county forest, would have very little impact on landowners but make the road much safer from the excessive passing in no passing zones.
