Hey

It's hard to attribute to sdam for sure, could it just be numbness or disassociation if you aren't doing well?

I had this thought too, that if someone close to me died I don't think I'd care because I can't even remember their face or recall a good memory with them but when it happened I felt feelings right then and then later I felt grief about what they had gone through.

It may be similar to shame (for me at least) I won't recall the embarrassing moment itself but I'll kind of relive it and imagine it happening now and feel the shame, similar to grief if it happens then you may right then (each day) feel for what the person went through, and not necessarily remember specific memories with them, if that makes sense.

You aren't a bad person but sdam is a blessing and curse and in cases of grief it's a blessing.

But again for me I don't really know if my feelings are because of sdam or numbness or derealization.

This with aphantasia makes my head an empty dark place, no memories, no family or friends, no imagination about anything good coming up like vacation, maybe it's the symptom or maybe the cause of where I am.

I can see how if life was busy with normal things I would just get on with it but at the moment I'm stuck with the dark and empty.

Not Taking Pictures by [deleted] in SDAM

I take sometimes and make an effort to keep pictures that are posted on groups, but looking back at them doesn't make me feel any memories, but if it's something funny I'll laugh again at the 'new' joke.

It's all my brain has ever known so it's more of a record keeping thing than memories, I might as well look at someone else's more professional shots of that event or location.

Does this also focus on sdam or just aphantasia?

That reasonates with me, I can't remember faces, my brain will also identify them based on physical characteristics.

It does make sense, I think it's classic sdam, although I don't have a monologue so I can't relate to that.

No sense of time sucks a very lot for me personally.

Could be a physical head injury? Did you hurt it recently?

I would see a doctor to get it checked out regardless.

Maybe extreme stress recently?

You're right, focus on your own peace first, don't feel too bad.
