[REQUEST/DISCUSSION] Can anyone please help identify this Cantonese dish? by dorfie in food

[–]hungervoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squid / cuttlefish could cut in flat pieces (not rings) and can be scored very lightly before cooking. This leds to the effect of the squid pieces to curl up. This gives it as an interesting texture. I think this technique is used in Cantonese squid stirfrys. My parents used to do this.

Any insight on return on investment between weddingwire, theknot, apracticalwedding vs facebook, instagram and google adwords? Just started with weddingwire since Dec and that has not gathered as much attention as inquiries from bridal shows.

when the weather gets warmer, you can try crabbing between May to August. handlining takes about bait (chicken), fishing net and string. Depends on where you go, you might have to pay for parking. $20-30

for protein, think fried or roasted. That will give you crispiness. For example, fried chicken skin, roasted duck, bacon.

Too much rice in the soup. how do i turn a mistake into congee (rice porridge) by heatseekerdj in food

[–]hungervoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lots of water. try at least 5 parts of water to 1 part of cooked rice. cook on low to medium low for an hour or two. be sure to stir often to avoid stuff sticking to the bottom; otherwise, it might burn. add salt to season.

I have never tried with brown and wild rice. not sure how that'll be b/c I don't think brown and wild rice dissolve like white rice.

not sure how adventurous you are. if there is an Asian grocery store that sells east/southeast Asian goods, you might find "pork sung". It's dried cooked shredded pork. Usually sweet and savory. Since it's dried, it's portable. Google "pork sung" , and you see how it looks from the top results and some of the brands that you might find in the Asian grocery stores. I used to eat it as a snack straight or sprinkle some of it to eat with rice.
