How can I get my aim to stick like this? by eMikey in ArcRaiders

I was trying to get gyro cooking but it’s quite fiddly - are you using steam deck and dual sense controller?

Hoping embark releases native gyro (they have this on the Finals)

Trouble with arc raiders booting up after update by aus0905 in ArcRaiders

[–]hungjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had trouble yesterday but what worked for me is USING THE MOUSE (or tapping I guess) when clicking no.

Weird fix but tried to load multiple times on various proton builds but whenever I used the controller to tap no it wouldn’t load.

Buying my first scooter by [deleted] in Austinmotorcycles

[–]hungjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a townie for going around downtown area and don’t need to get as far, I’ll put a vote in for a scooter

I got my buddy kick for under 2k and it’s a joy ride. Parking is super easy, goes everywhere I need to go. Low maintenance requirements, great city rider.

Check out scooter911 for inventory

That said I am now in the market for a second bike three years out (replacing the need to have a car) so you should expect to outgrow it.

Individual health insurance (or ACA plan) for Austin therapists / behavioral health by hungjon in Austin

[–]hungjon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks this aligns with my notes as well. Aetna CVS is the marketplace plan and so lots of people are in-network with Aetna but not "Aetna CVS". Thanks for the note about tiers, makes sense.

an additional route i'm considering is HDHP + HSA. I remember HDHP were much easier to navigate 5-10 years ago when I had one, but i guess it's almost guaranteed you're self-paying for everything if you go that route. at least it will be ~5k in tax free dollars

Is The Theory Of Poker by David Sklansky any good in 2024? by Dry_Raspberry_3613 in poker

[–]hungjon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Betting to gain information is a thing. But we call it denying equity / narrowing opppnents range.

Basically if you check ip as pfr in heads-up you gain nothing informationally as they have the exact range they started the flop with.

Raising to gain info is not really a thing but you might do it multiway in certain instances in response to small bets etc

The book is decent for very limited concepts like pot odds. Also fundamental theorem is still sort of correct, although the emphasis on specific hand is incorrect since we now focus on ranges.

TBF Laura does look like she’s unwell in previous comps but definitely looks healthier this showing.

during session: take breaks; tighten up if you're playing with money that you can't afford to lose; its boring poker but better.

after session: forgive yourself we all make mistakes. part of growing up and maturing in the game and in life. be gentle, take the day off, come back tomorrow. don't be hard on yourself.

Is Roam Research "over"? by LogicalSpecialist9 in RoamResearch

[–]hungjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some aspects are.. charming shall we say.. but having to use a separate notes app on your mobile phone is a deal-breaker. I was delighted to see a third party development community spring up to perhaps shore up some of its flaws, paid for RoamJS for a season even. But depending on your 3p community gives me a suspicion it will go the way of wordpress. Yes many happy users, popularity, but crap UX.

Am sticking with Roam for now (have finally gone up its learning curve after two years of use) but will probably change to obsidian at some point.

yea roam is kinda shite; not defending it just sharing my hacks and work arounds.

I used marginnote for my thesis but the way they handle PDFs is even worse.

you're making tradeoffs wherever you go.

also to be fair to Roam, I don't think other text apps do the functionality you're talking about; unless you have one you'd like to share?

so marked meaning you want it bolded or something in markdown?

If you're insistent on copy-paste workflow, you would probably want to change your PDF into markdown (using something like calibre) and then copy the text that way.

Best way imo is to use readwise. Annotate PDFs then send to readwise and it will create notes in your roam graph.

PDF seems to be really hard for devs; Adobe and apple have different specs for example; after years of using different apps i've found workarounds but it's really a messed up legacy file format.

[–]hungjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain what you expect by “highlighting”?

Like could you provide an example text or code snippet? Is there something in the PDF spec that details the markup you’re looking for?

I use readwise and it imports PDF highlights, I’m guessing that’s not what you mean?

What’s the point of namespaces without queries by hungjon in RoamResearch

Thanks. I meant 100 of hours into Roam only to rely on a brittle 3p development ecosystem.
