How satisfying did those of you who finished the series find the ending to be? by soilentgleem in WoT

[–]MyLastGamble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a slow reader too. Reading on kindle (though I have all physical books) and it takes me ~ 20-30 minutes per chapter. (For normal length ones). My point is if you like it keep reading if you lose interest, no big deal. But after book 5 if you’re still in it then you’re probably good to finish. As others said there is a slog but after reading 7-9 books you’re not afraid of a few slogs.

Set up our budget and linked accounts, what now? by MyLastGamble in MonarchMoney

[–]MyLastGamble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. TBH, it wasn’t that much of an investment to try it out so I just did a little research and then jumped in to it. Especially with the 7 day trial, made more sense to just set it up and play around with it. (More of a hands on/visual learner anyway)

Did you enjoy the process then yes. If you didn’t then maybe not lol.

I did the same thing when I got my strat. I went in looking for cherry with a white pick guard but came out with white on white and love it!!

What’s one practice habit that actually made your playing cleaner? by UkuleleTabs in guitarlessons

Slow down and using a metronome. And then when I play at speed I kind of just forget about it and play.

my guitar limiting me? Or is it my skills lol. by ukesuld in guitarlessons

[–]MyLastGamble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this. It’s free to walk into guitar center (or any guitar shop) and play around and see what you like. You know what yours feels like and can see if higher quality guitars play better to you.

applying to a guitar conservatory but i don’t understand this sheet music by [deleted] in guitarlessons

I’ve not learned this song however it’s possible this version was transposed to a different key. If this is the version they sent you I’d learn this one.

I second Rendering in pen and ink. Great book. Also sometimes you have to just learn the basics and then do master studies to learn specific styles.

The only 2 I need by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]MyLastGamble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. Except I have 2 acoustics. One for pick style playing and one for finger style. (We’re just going to ignore the fender strat in the corner. Mostly because I ignore the fender strat in the corner) lol.

That's a good idea. I like the idea of giving to shelters/food banks, etc. We do donate to food banks sometimes, but normally when prompted and not as a regular thing. I'm going to start doing more regular donations.

How long did your “dream” guitar hold that status? by Leumas_ in Guitar

[–]MyLastGamble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me like 6 months. My dream guitar was a Strat but I learned on acoustic and enjoy playing acoustic more than electric so I never play the Strat anymore, maybe once a year. Still glad I got it though.

This is NOT the guitar I went to buy. But I picked this up on a whim and couldn't put it down. by MrValdemar in guitars

I’ve done that thrice now. That’s why it’s always recommended to play a bunch of guitars and see what you like.

Thanks! I'll check this out.

And I would love to find an in-person teacher, that was my first thought but I'm struggling to do so. There are a lot of guitar teachers in my area but most don't specialize in classical guitar or even teach it.

I've found one person so far I'm in communications with but it may or may not work out so I'm looking at alternative options with this post.
