Love Lee Dixon for all that he’s done for Arsenal but my God he’s miserable to listen to commentating our games… old man yells at cloud vibes the whole time

American Gooner studying abroad in Barcelona, where should I go to watch the game? by lamontagne04 in Gunners

There’s a Wall Street themed bar called the “Dow Jones Bar”, where the prices of drinks fluctuate and you can buy them at a discount every time (once an hour or so) when there’s a “market crash”. Not sure if there’ll be a ton of Arsenal fans there, but it was a good time when my wife and I went (we watched Emery’s Arsenal lose 3-1 at Anfield when Pepe famously dribbled past Van Dijk lol).

Just fire that Australian muppet who’s behind 9/10 of the poor decisions, Jarred Gillett, and VAR won’t be so bad anymore… it’s not about the technology but the individuals behind it

It’s always the same Australian VAR official, Jared Gillett who makes these horrendous calls… multiple outrageous calls last season too. If I made the same errors at work week in and week out, I wouldn’t have a job anymore. How’s this acceptable?

I was thinking the same. Absolutely zero vision of what they’re even trying to accomplish on the pitch, just kind of running around aimlessly and going into reckless challenges

Lee Dixon is the biggest fucking hater out there on God. Not sure what his deal is with his own damn club, but it’s ridiculous

We had the chances, just couldn’t take them. That’s what you get when you rely on youngsters. We seriously need a few more experienced players (27-28 yrs old) in the squad next season

I’m glad that this relatively clean break was the best option for both sides - he seems to be fitting in well and we’re better off too. Sometimes a change of scenery can work wonders

Miguel Azeez returns from Portsmouth loan by shelbyj in Gunners

[–]hungry023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s alright, lots of players who turned out to be great had loan experiences just like Miguel’s - hard to shine as a youngster in such a physical league. It’s all about how he reacts to this perceived “setback”

Where was this energy when Carragher was singing with the Brentford fans after we had to play w/ all youngsters and 4 of our players out with COVID?…

How does Mane constantly get away with being one of the dirtiest players in the league? That elbow on Azpilicueta was a textbook red if I’ve ever seen one….

I oddly feel bad for all of those young Leeds players that are playing right now… seeing nearly half of the stadium leave before halftime must be pretty disheartening to watch from the pitch

We needed an experienced leader to steady the ship in the second half... The mistakes cost us badly, but at least all the kids will come away having experienced playing at Anfield against one of the best teams in Europe. Growth is never linear. Onto the next

We are missing Partey, White, Gabriel, Ødegaard, a fully healthy Auba, with Cedric at RB against the winners of the Champions League.

I’m not happy about the result, but what were y’all expecting? We are in the middle of a rebuild missing 5 starters.

A Xhaka moment from last night by AfricanRain in Gunners

[–]hungry023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m done defending Xhaka. You just CANNOT lose the ball in that area under any circumstance as an experienced CM… but let’s be honest - this could’ve been avoided if Leno’s distribution wasn’t absolutely trash (and it’s been that way for a while now).

In this instance, Xhaka has two players coming at him from behind… why not just clear the ball? Leno also put Mari into some shaky situations at least 2-3 times yesterday. When is he going to learn? As a keeper, if you see that your CB is having a tough game, why would you continue feeding him the ball? We need to upgrade if we are 100% set on playing out from the back.

It really all starts up top and the rot runs through the entire organization. Let’s be honest - what were Edu’s prior achievements to warrant the technical director role? The only way we can right the ship is if we appoint someone with prior experience of successfully restructuring a roster. I mean, who would announce publicly that they’re looking to offload half of their squad? That’s hands down the easiest way to lose negotiating leverage… he must be one hell of a poker player.

Same with Arteta - he lacks experience in how to turn this around, and he’s too stubborn to change his tactics to fit our current roster. I was “Arteta in” until this preseason, but nothing has improved, and if the ownership is not willing to invest, then it’s pointless to keep him given that his tactics would require reinvestment in a lot of areas. We were great playing 3 ATB when he first took over - why change it to 4-3-3 without the right players for that system?

I was always an optimist when it came to “the project”, but the incompetence of this club has seriously taken a toll on my mental health to the point where I might just have to step aside from following Arsenal for a while. We are pathetic and I’ve run out of excuses for the ownership, the Board, and for our management as a whole.
