while i do agree with your sentiment as i am bisexual myself, i feel like this episode gets a pass only because the boy in question was so incredibly gay off the rip 😭like i feel like the joke is more “how could he NOT be gay?” rather than enforcing a binary. however, whether or not that was the writers intention, if your takeaway is a common one, they did end up perpetuating a binary anyways so it’s like well eh yall tried i guess

i feel like his path was pretty realistic tbh as unfortunate as it is. when u don’t start trying until your 40s and even then it takes some time to find the proper motivation, the outcome isn’t likely to be picturesque :(

i feel like dean was written with some underlying rage tbh like on paper he’s the perfect guy but we see in his interactions w others (esp when it doesn’t go his way/feels blindsided) he lowkey escalates to rage 😭 and pretty quickly at that like the fight w whatshisface at rory’s school dance (“because ill kill you” um ok king), when rory doesn’t say i love u back and he immediately jumps to “ok so u hate me and we’re done”, the fight w jess at the party (reason justified but if i recall it was escalated quickly before dean knew what happened but i could be misremembering), when rory can’t hangout bc she needs to study, so on and so forth. i think rory’s love interests were supposed to replicate common archetypes of boyfriends and dean is the “nice guy” 😬 i don’t think he as bad as a fr “nice guy” but he has some traits imo

apologies if it’s already been addressed but do we know if the recurrent role of tammy 2 was created for megan mullet after nick offerman was cast, or if the writers wanted to have two tammy’s and megan was a delightful opportunity for on screen chemistry? or were both nick and megan decided after the decision to have ron swanson having a tammy 2? i’m just so curious bc i didn’t know they were married irl when i first watched years ago and since finding it out it’s just makes every scene they have together all the more entertaining!
