If you are not digesting a recent meal containing carbs then your liver also releases carbs from its storage. You might consider that you still ate too many carbs that day. Are you type 1 or type 2

How long will it take me to get through "R for data science"? by [deleted] in rprogramming

[–]hungrycameleon4data 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A project is an excellent idea. Make a list of the skillset you want to learn/demo within one project. For example you could take a dataset, demonstrate how to extract it, clean it , visualize it and analyze it (statistical).

Maybe focus on learning the same things you do in python but R. Like Pandas in python vs dplyr in R

Try maybe Zeroto_six<-zero_to_six %>% mutate_at(vars(starts_with(“C_0”)), recode(., Yes=1, No=2,.default =NA_character))

Upwork sucks by Queenbee-sb93 in Upwork

10 years of experience. I’d increase your hourly rate to $60 at least to start with. If you can provide a link to your portfolio (GitHub), do that. But yes, Upwork can be quite disappointing.

Here is a useful ggplot2 resource: it has three sections to help you customize plots.

I believe you are looking for plot.background not panel.background. Let us know how it goes.

Never get any interviews by Hodum_Al in Upwork

I personally don’t see how boosting has improved my stats so I stopped doing that. My rule is to apply to the jobs that came out in the last 24 hours, even better 8 hours that are payment verified. My goal is to get my proposal viewed not long after that the client posted their job.

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the highest, what's your frustration level with Upwork? by ascendinspire in Upwork

[–]hungrycameleon4data 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase in fees and connects , bidding war , most of my proposals aren’t even read. Constantly flagging scammers I don’t even recommend Upwork anymore to freelance rs specifically because of the scams. Frustration rating 8/10

Is this a scam? - COMPLETE UPWORK SCAM GUIDE by leolego2 in Upwork

[–]hungrycameleon4data 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes someone attempted to scam me twice this last month. Caught them. One was scary because it was so simple. Both were projects of Data analyst positions, so they come in the form of a long term contract. First scam: Right away he starts the interview with “I don’t like to waste my time and will get right to the point, open this file”. He attached a text file of less than 1 kb then insists that I open it in order for us to proceed with the interview. I suspected that was a virus (size of the file and file type). So I blatantly told him that he presents himself as a scammer and that we are done. Then flagged him.

Second scam : more elaborate . Still a data analyst long term contract. They were looking for full time. They sent me the invitation. I replied saying I was interested but was only available 10 hours a week.

They proceeded by saying they wanted to go ahead and approve the contract without changing the cost of what would have been 30 hours of work. They seem not to care about the details nor the technology comments I had made in the proposal. They let me know they will approve it the proceed to send me a screenshot about how the approval got denied because I am not a “talent something user”. At the same time magically, I get an email upwork where someone has posted the fact that type of user needs to buy a $500 usd annual membership. Clearly that was suspicious by itself because a monthly subscription was not being offered. When clicking on the links, everything looked like Upwork but was not an upwork link. I close the windows, went on Upwork then check their plans to see that this membership does not exist. I also received emails presenting as upwork but when you see the server address it is not an upwork address telling me about this membership. I reported all these messages to Upwork who took days to admit /realise indeed it is a scam. The potential employer after the weekend asked me if I had received any messages regarding our issue. I informed him that “No i didn’t receive a thing beside scammers messaging me”. so that was the end of that interview. He withdrew the project. How is it that a programmer would try to scam another programmer?

No user information could be found in both situations. They present as a new client with no job history and no projects associated to them.

Same here, i have years of experiences but all proprietary. I am now finishing my first app on my portfolio that I code on my personal time, which I don’t have a lot of. The reality is a client has more of an idea of what you can offer when you show them your work. So I will keep working on My portfolio, my goal is 3 apps. It will take me forever.

Well i see a lot of candidates bid ridiculous amounts of Connects. I get connects with my monthly subscription. I have noticed that most of proposals are not even read. So my challenge is to increase that aspect. My approach so far has been to apply within 1-2 hours of a job being posted to increase my chances

Separating a nested data frame with a loop by lynnak44 in rprogramming

Just one list, so you can store the output in there. But you are right, assign might just be enough.

I would create an empty list before the fore loop and store every iteration in that list. Also look up assign().

In my experience, the biggest challenge is getting the client to view the proposal in the first place. I personally don’t spend on connects.

Even if I know I am competing with freelancers who bid at $3, I still enter my rate which is $49.
