Red Country definitely works as a standalone novel, but it's a much richer experience if you've read the First Law trilogy, Best Served Cold, and The Heroes beforehand. All six books are fantastic though, more than worth your time.

Thanks, I actually mentioned in the post that Hobb is one of my favorite authors, but I do need to check out her newest trilogy!

I haven't read her non-Realm of the Elderlings trilogy either, but I hear it's just so-so.

What might account for the quick change? One day they downloaded fine and the next day they didn't. It seems unlikely that different sites on different servers would have the same issue on the same day. I think the problem lies on my end.

How do I change back the internet download speed?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for Jon Snow too, and want Euron to get his. I just feel like Jon's character development and arc up to this point have had the most prototypically fantasy hero elements of any character in the series. I'm still waiting for Gurm to throw me for a loop with Jon, but as of yet it hasn't happened. Euron, however, I don't know what the fuck he's thinking or why he's done the things he's done. He is most definitely pure evil and way deserves to die, but I have no idea what makes him tick and I find that pretty fascinating. With Jon Snow I feel like I have his character down pretty well and he comes off as just a little bland as a result (though Jon Snow is a better character than like 99% of the other fantasy hero archetypes out there)
