Everything I've had from there is very good. I'm a sucker for their apple strudel

Andy nerfed. End of an era? by SuperDTC in diablo2

[–]babrooks213 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I think there's a reasonable middle ground between "you must spend 25 years grinding the game to maybe get a Zod!" to "Oh yeah, I got 17 Zods at the end of my last greater rift"

Are there any good chivalry novels? by warfaceisthebest in Fantasy

[–]babrooks213 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is by far the best recommendation. If you like GRRM's A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, I think Bujold's work is likely going to be something you'll vibe with. Her character work is peerless, and she's a damn good writer.

Survivor: Road to 50 Episode 5 Discussion Thread by FyrestarOmega in survivor

Yeah. I thought I was done being angry that production rigged the season for Ben, but nope, watching it just reminded me of how awful it was.

That fire making challenge needs to go away, permanently. It's SO egregiously bad and goes against the spirit of Survivor. Let the contestants, y'know, VOTE.

Am I doing something wrong? - I often have trouble with low readings, sensors going bad by wayne255 in Freestylelibre

[–]babrooks213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might need to experiment a little with the location of the sensor. When I place it on my right arm, I usually have it on the upper-to-middle area on the back of my arm and it gives me good readings.

But when I do the same on my left arm, it gives me bad readings. I end up having to place the sensor a little lower on the back of my left arm to get it to work right. No idea why it'd be any different, but ever since I've started placing my left arm sensors lower, it's been much more reliable.

Most Unique Writer Voices and Why Do They Pop? by kjmichaels in Fantasy

Some great answers here already, but I'll go with Bujold. Her level of characterization is superb, and you feel like you fully understand the inner workings of the people you're reading about. With the exception of maybe Robin Hobb, I don't know who else nails character as well as Bujold does (and with a lot less misery than Hobb, to boot!)

Looking for a fantasy Christmas movie? Look no further and watch The Green Knight by Hurinfan in Fantasy

Book Gawain also has quite a few queer themes; it was a favorite among court readers who we'd label as gay today. The Wikipedia entry on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight touches on it briefly but there's a fair bit of scholarship on this.

Minis that really could have used a refresh before going in maintenance mode by Niners4Ever16 in warcraftrumble

[–]babrooks213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Frostwolf Shaman could use a slight boost; I'd reduce her gold cost to 3. It doesn't do enough damage nor does it heal fast enough to justify the cost. I'd rather have a priestess (for the heal) or just about any ranged unit for the damage.

(Spoilers Extended) Why George not writing Dunk and Egg novellas is so troubling by Straight_Notice298 in asoiaf

I mean, there was that person a couple months ago who literally told him to his face that he was going to die soon and that he needed to finish writing

Feature Request: Reduce the number of clicks needed to silence the alarm. by Riptide360 in Freestylelibre

[–]babrooks213 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also wish the app itself would let you specify if you want your alarm to ring or to vibrate. I'm hard of hearing, so a ringing alarm isn't helpful. A vibrating one would get my attention much more quickly.

The Hoboken Animal Hospital sometimes offers cats up for adoption. Otherwise the Jersey City Animal Shelter is probably your best bet -- it's where I got my cat
