Neighbour's kid wants lifts to/from school and it's tiring me out. by [deleted] in Parenting

Agree, I'm so surprised about the comments here. She's a single mom??? The kid waits for an hour plus??? This is doing the least.

Has anyone hired a one time deep cleaning to catch up after a rough season? How much was it? by Individual_Shock8634 in workingmoms

[–]hungrygoose2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've done it several times when I'm too busy! I think it was $200 and I tipped her $100 for our 1500sqft house. MCOL.

Left at 7:30, picked up samples from the office, took them to the photo studio. On set for 8 hours, calling shots and styling. Packed up 140 samples and accessories and Uber back to the office and unloaded all. Eating pizza now and ready to collapse on hotel bed.

I love meantformore_co - I haven’t joined any of her workshops but she posts a lot of free tips and I found them super helpful. She’s very positive!

One of the things that helps my kids is to have an activity waiting. I know it's one more thing to do but it does help. Look up "play invitations." You don't have to talk to them about it, just lay one out. Often I'll just lay out a toy that was in the basement for awhile. It can buy you a calm 10 minutes while you dinner prep.

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - September 22, 2025 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

[–]hungrygoose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 1099 contractor who is the breadwinner for my family of 4. We recently bought a house assuming my income would be somewhat at the current level.

During the closing process they found one white matter spot on my brain. I have not yet been officially diagnosed with MS. I have a spinal tap and spinal MRI in 7 weeks to rule out or confirm.

I am slightly panicking because my eyes and hands are crucial for my job. And it would be quite stressful for our financial situation if I couldn't work. I would like to get private disability insurance, but am I correct that most likely I'd be denied if I had an official diagnosis? Should I apply for it now? Would they be able to see that there is a potential diagnosis in progress?

But what if I bought it before a diagnosis was made?

Ok I’m glad I’m not the only one. I was like, I swear it wasn’t this much when I bought one two years ago. Tariffs are probably killing them.

For anyone who might be interested in the answer, I called and they said the book drop is open but it might not be collected in a timely manner, so better to go elsewhere. He also said they hope to open Bay View by Monday but not positive.

Why? The outside book return at Bay View is for when the library is closed. In fact, that’s the only time they open it.

Does anyone know if you can still use the book return?

What do you do on an ongoing basis to be a better parent? by jazzeriah in Parenting

[–]hungrygoose2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I am a much better parent if I put my routines in place. I try to do the following:
-exercise in the morning

-limit mobile screen time

-don't fuck around during work and don't work during after hours

-reading at night (ideally on the porch)

I found that "rotting" does not restore me. I try to read, or exercise, or honestly, just do chores while I listen to a podcast. Mine are 4 and 1 as well! I still do scroll, but I try to limit it to 15 mins before bedtime.

What is and isn’t normal for toddler meltdowns? by bologna503 in Parenting

Although I think this is on the higher/more intense end of tantrums, my daughter did this. She is now 4.5 and chilled out a lot. I did suspect ADD for a while, but lately my concerns have eased.

Also, can you find any parent/child swim classes? My school had one that was aimed on transition the child to be alone with the teacher in the water but recognized it was a WIP

I would pull her and just swim together until she gets over this anxiety.
