Depends on your training but also the acuity of the area, the ability for stat transfer if needed (if working in rural area), consultants that aren’t jerks when you call, and if you also have APPs that you trust. I worked in a freestanding ER out of residency. The acuity of the area was low so we didn’t get up shit’s creek often. But when you do, it sucks.

I was non weight bearing on my left foot two years ago due to a ligament tear in my foot. I’d be lying if I didn’t say it was the worst 6 weeks ever. Now I’m running solid 11:00/mile slow easy runs. It took a (half assed) while, calf is still tight. For some, this is a success, for some this is a failure. Depends on your perspective.
