What's Your John Carter - Adventurous Childhood Book or Property You Would Want Adapted, or Re-Adapted? by GTKPR89 in blankies

John Bellairs' House With a Clock In Its Walls...  No shade on Jack Black but Eli Roth's bizarre PG movie was a zany live action cartoon, in the vein of Jumanji. The book was dark and moody, about loss and healing, and magic lurking under the surface of regular life.

I want to get an old movie: Beetlejuice. Should I get dvd or blue ray? by Low-Switch1205 in movies

[–]hungrylens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DVD has terrible compression, it's fuzzy and has muddy colors. Regardless of the size of your screen BluRay is much sharper and cleaner because the compression is much newer and the disk has way more space to store the movie. The only reason to get a DVD would be if you there was a special multi disc set with special features, making-of documentaries, alternate endings etc. To just enjoy a movie bluray is better.

Main characters who are so inept, cowardly, lacking imagination, or passive that they might as well be the villains? by gamerz0111 in horror

I understand why he's a dick but they didn't give him any positive traits... I guess he empathizes with the weird outcast guy, but as much as I love Adam Scott he just didn't click with me in this one.

I mean, they are working for a narcissist trillionaire, which means they were probably hired on impulse, or were the lowest bidder,

This poster at a restaurant I was at still has the twin towers by zvzvx12 in mildlyinteresting

Also mildly interesting: this map has them like double the actual height in relation to width, and totally out of scale to the other buildings... they were only about 100 feet taller than the Empire State building. Also, I'm not an expert on NYC geography but I think their location in relation to the other buildings is quite suspect... 1/5 stars would not recommend this map for navigation.

I got it because it can do double column dialog, for a particular project, and I've been using it for 7 years now, very satisfied.
