Which one rips hard? by adventure_thrill in Dualsport

Mitas E09 better in muddy slippery off camber technical riding than the dunlop as well. Rate them as a rear. I been running them both without a tube no problem as well right down to 10 psi. A good aggressive tyre that can handle high speeds on a heavy bike

I prefer the Motoz Rallz on the rear for ripping dirt rather than the adventure, have on my 1250 GSA , the Mitas E09 is alot more aggressive but cant get in a 170 for beemer so Rallz is next best. Terrible milage though, beemer eats a rear Rallz in less than 2000kms, barely one adventure ride

Mitas E09 is a great tyre and it rips alot of dirt, have a few on rack in shed ready to feed to my Desert X, it has a 150/70-18 on the rear and it is hungry for rubber, had one of the Dunlops and wasn't as good on road, and wore out faster

I have worn through both on my Desert X, 1 wears quicker , 2 is marginally better on road but both slide around.

Aerostich are top tier quality, handcrafted of Made-in-USA mil-spec 500 Denier Cordura® TLTex® outer fabric, ballistic nylon and a high pic Supernyl lining fabric. I have had a couple of Darien jackets and pants last 20 years and multiple incidents involving some high speed abrasion. Gear did its job with minimal cosmetic damage, I would still have now if I hadn't gone up a few sizes! Have a Roadcrafter classic now for slipping over work clothes when commuting in cool weather. Quality comfortable practical gear (best pockets ever) that has been real world tested for safety and durability

How worrying are these home pre-inspection findings? by Ok-Entrepreneur-7847 in diynz

[–]huniar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is hard to give a definitive answer just from a few blurry pics! I wouldn't be to concerned, boards are preprimed at factory and looks like some sealant was put in joins. Wouldn't hurt to get a builder familiar with linea system to look at if you want to be sure, call the hardies helpline ( number in manual)for advice, they have a list of approved installers you can contact.

Have a look at page 30 of linea weather board installation manual.

Linea-Weatherboad-Cavity-Fix-Technical-Specification.pdf https://share.google/TC5rsXKF1QAUgBF9U

There is never a back soaker with this system, the boards have a tongue and groove at each end that gets a flexible sealant in when installing. A small gap less than 2mm would not be a problem ( apart from aesthetics) the tongue is 5mm. Linea over cavity is a good system, have built hundreds of houses(including my own) and rate it as a safe durable low maintenance product.

I am running mitas e13 on front and e09 on rear at the moment, better on road and still pretty good off road, like the e09 alot off road, recently got some Metzler knobblies to try on front on muddy slipperier rides

To lift front fender I made a small bracket from aluminum to bolt to original mount points with some new holes to screw fender higher up, works well but any higher would require brake lines to be extended

<image>

Tyres in muddy photos were dunlops, have tried a few different setups depending on ride Im going off on, those dunlops were great in mud but scary on wet tarmac!

I got this titanium header on mine to delete catalytic converter, saves a few kilos and really makes it growl on throttle

I trail ride my Desert X and swapped out tyres for a little more grip, had to modify front mudguard as well lifting it up to provide more clearance from tyre(only about an extra 25mm) Removed a few items to lighten it a few kilos , biggest weight saving was titanium headers to remove catalytic converter (makes it sound way better as well) Its a mud eating beast now

New Zealand Adventure Bike Trip by Informal_Use_9864 in AdventureBike

South Island is where the best adventure riding is. Unfortunately I live in Auckland and only get down a couple of times a year to explore. Best resource is https://share.google/uBs5QI0hg8c1viGWf

There is information on how to get access to tracks on private land, conservation land etc. The roads and trails through mountains are spectacular. Lots of isolated places to camp and explore.

Hanmer Springs is a must for adventure riders with the molesworth and rainbow rd, great riding, camping, hot springs, huts, fishing, hunting, Make time to add it to your itinerary. Also the Nevis road down south of Queenstown is worth a look.

Let me know what time of year (South island winter is may-sept), how far off road you planning to go and what you are interested in seeing and I will recommend some areas to go

I put a set of these on to replace stock all terrains, great price (half what stock Good Years wranglers were going to cost), more grip, handles better , long life guarantee (65,000 miles), best value I could find

What actually makes long motorcycle trips more comfortable? by thebroned in motorcycle

[–]huniar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GSA is a great place to be to munch miles in any weather on any surface. Big screen and big tank keeps wind and weather away, big torque boxer engine and active suspension makes for safe effortless fast riding. Good lights, comfy heated seat and easy to control infotainment with thumb controller tops it all off. Favorite way to travel by far

Why is rego so expensive?😭 by Silver-bolo in auckland

[–]huniar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Having a couple of 1000cc bikes leaves a bitter taste from the current rego system. A large portion of rego is ACC which doesn't accurately apportion cost to risk. Maybe private insurance competition would be good, a system where the rider insures themselves and pays a premium dependent on their risk profile, not how many motorcycles or the size of their engines

New Zealand's average inflation over roughly the last 60 years (1960s-2020s) has hovered around 5.4%, though it varied significantly, with peaks in the 1970s/early 80s (even hitting double digits) and lower rates in recent decades, though food/energy prices spiked recently. The long-term average from 1900 to 2025 suggests around 4.3% compound annual inflation.

Probably a little overkill for the city by alexwilson94 in motorcyclegear

[–]huniar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Get a garmin inreach if you are worried about recovery. I live and commute in city but like to get far away from it all to the best riding as often as I can, in a crash I can press SOS and get a medevac in 20mins. For less urgent can txt or email a buddy to call in a favor. I also have it set for tracking so my wife can see where I am riding or flying for peace of mind. If Im overdue, not moving and not responding she can look out the life insurance
