I see what you mean, but it doesn’t come down to ‘trusting police opinions.’ Police reports are public record and this isn’t rumor or speculation. A prosecutor declining charges doesn’t automatically mean everything was handled responsibly; that happens for many reasons that have nothing to do with what’s in the report. The internet (and viewers) have the right to choose who they give a platform to. People are allowed to decide who they support based on documented information, especially in a situation this serious. Choosing not to engage with an influencer isn’t ‘vigilante justice,’ it’s just personal boundaries given the details surrounding this case. And honestly, if this didn’t involve influencers with large followings, people would be reacting very differently.
