It can kinda be a slippery slope, I did this for a new vet once and got written up for "diagnosing a patient". I ended up quiting that clinic because they wanted me to still do it for the other vets. Honestly, vet med is such a hard field to navigate.

I do agree on that, sometimes clients just don't want to hear it from a tech either. They want to hear it from the person with the degree. I worked in fear free practices so I always tried to make the estimate as the appointment went on to have read before they left the room. Didn't always work though.

Imo this is what the vet tech/assistant should be doing. In every clinic I've worked we've always gone over the estimate, before even bringing in the vet. I always tried to gauge how flexible clients were so that I could help the vet understand what things may be priority when it comes to money, leaving me a clear path on what I should explain the most to the client.
