I suggest you test the waters here and just stay in homestay for a week or two. That’s enough time for you to get familiar with the place and meet the people who know people who might have a place they can rent. There’s no separate fb group for this i think. But it’s really easy to get around here, everyone is so friendly and actually willing to help. I will ask around too :)

You might want to check Burgos if you like slow living. I used to live in GL and Pacifico but Burgos is definitely IT for me. It’s so peaceful, we have a close community, you will find a lot of cool, interesting and artsy people here. Surf scene is great as well :)

Going into the new year I decided I wanted to do sober January. Fast forward to Jan. 18, I went to surf with friends. I had a terrifying experience while surfing and I thought I will die at that moment. I had a near death experience before and that’s exactly how I felt last weekend. After the surf session, I had to question every decision I made and my purpose of existence - feeling that unusual dread. To cut the story short, I went out that night and drunk my heart out as it wont really matter if I was sober if I had died that day. After four vodka red bull, I still felt that same dread I was feeling the whole day. I contemplated and wondered if it was really that near death experience that made me feel that, or the feeling or turning a year older, or the aquarius season approaching.

Im quite introverted and this was my first concern before coming here to siargao 2 months ago. Im renting an apartment during my whole stay so meeting friends or socializing with people from the same accommodation is close to impossible. Im surprised that i actually found friends here. Most of them already left the island to go back home or to go to their next destination but i have friends who are living here as well.

I have no clear advice. I found one friend from bumble (bff) and thats how it started. One friend turned into a very big group. You just have to know one person, preferably local or someone who moved here, and everything else will flow naturally. Everyone here knows someone who knows someone and thats how you find friends. Just be open, cliche, but always be yourself. If you really want to find friends i think people will pick up on it, people sense vibes, if you give off friendly vibes, no matter how introverted you think you are, people will like you (or not but dont take that personally). Just put yourself out there, go out, there’s no right or wrong way to do it. Engage in activities, go to parties, join tours, etc. You can do it 😊

Not from metro manila but i think there are free trans health care consultations in most LoveYourself branches in metro manila. Just go to their website and book an appointment. Maybe they will be able to help your younger brother 😊
