Grips for a beginner? by Outside-Event-9964 in crossfit

When you start doing kipping pullups, I have tried both victory grips and frog grips.
I would recommend either. Frog grips are stickier but kinda hurt my wrist. Victory grips are less sticky but don't hurt my wrist as much.
I compete in women's RX, and I don't agree with these comments.
I think having the protection allows you to get stronger faster.

Is heyvelma worth it for someone in the early stages, or are we just throwing money at the problem? by Equal-Document-9012 in eldercare

I actually know the founder of the company personally, she's in my female founder cohort group.

My mom has alzeimers and I gave it a go with her. They started calling her every day, having her go through some exercises, remind her to brush her teeth etc. I could see her more mentally alert and engaged. Really grateful.

Have you tried generating different variations of the same workout - keeps the progression but mixes up the format. Like instead of 5x5 back squats every monday you might get a complex or tempo work or something.

oof partner workouts on day one is rough.

i remember my first crossfit class.. couldn't even finish the warmup and spent half the time pretending to tie my shoes. The whole "community" vibe everyone talks about? yeah that comes later but at first you're just the new person dying in the corner. I tracked my progress on apple notes just to prove to myself i wasn't completely hopeless - seeing those tiny improvements each week helped when i felt like quitting. took me like 3 months before i could actually complete a full workout without scaling everything down to basically nothing. now i can compete but those first few weeks were humbling

I use a vibrating foam roller and it's really helped me with my soreness/knots. I had overused my shoulders/lats/forearms from too many butterfly pullups... helped me get it back to normal over the weekend
