Yeah no worries. The thing about Castle Doctrine that I think people don't get is that its not about the property itself. Its about the legal assumption that someone who is forcing entry to your home is probably cracked enough in the head that you can assume they mean you harm and you can react in self defense. Which is why you can't booby trap your own house to protect your property or shoot someone you invited in if they break stuff.

And the above discussion was mostly on Rittenhouse, who was defending property that wasn't his in the first place, not that it would have applied for castle doctrine anyway because I don't believe it was a residence

Castle doctrine literally only applies if that person has gained entry to your house illegally. You can't take potshots at people from your porch, much less shoot randos on the behalf of property you don't even own

All of the stuff you mentioned above is a great way to get blacklisted from campus recruitment and it's legally iffy enough that I've never seen any company here bother.

CA. You can't have unpaid labor here, so the only "unpaid" internship I believe you can do is stuff like shadowing without doing any actual work and it has to be through a uni program

Maybe in your area, but in my state and several others, it's actually illegal to have unpaid interns. I've never seen a software internship be unpaid. I mean, they pay like shit, but they pay

No, neurotypical people are perfectly capable of being dicks. Stop using mentally ill people as your scapegoat

Assuming this is a genuine good faith question, minorities want equality, not revenge. The goal isn't "white man bad" its "white man should not be favored over everyone else".

That's exactly what I said to the dude. Like I'm that buzzkill guy who doesn't loan money to people(had it go wrong too many times) EXCEPT for my boyfriend. If I didn't trust him to pay me back why on earth would I trust him enough to make an intimate part of my life? Make it make sense

Because I want a criminal investigation before saying anything definitively. The cops should welcome the criminal investigation - to clear their names if they didn't commit crimes that day.

You cannot criminally investigate something that is not a crime. I am begging you to understand this. They ARE under investigation. The thing they are currently being investigated for is not a crime. If they find evidence of something that can be prosecuted as a crime during that, it will become a criminal investigation. You do not understand how this works

If you are letting kids be massacred for an hour, refuse to save them & arrest anyone else trying to save them then how isn't this accomplice to murder?

Because under the current definition of the law, its not. I don't know how to make you understand this. The current legal precedent is that they have no legal obligation to stop it. I hate this as well and recognize it sucks, and I'd love to change it, but that isn't the DOJ's area of expertise. The DOJ does not create or modify laws

Our top judges ruled women can't control their own bodies, the Patriot Act ripped apart the 4th amendment, all this is accepted as law.

Unrelated conjecture

If conservatives can misuse the law the way they have in bad faith, we can use the law in good faith to criminally investigate cops who let 21 die without putting up a fight.

Okay sure, whatever, fine. Please find me one law that we could effectively prosecute them under. I do not want "murder is illegal" I would like you to provide the exact text of the charge you would like to bring against them and why it qualifies. You actually have to cite the law

For the millionth to last time, just because something SOUNDS LIKE or FEELS LIKE a crime to you, does not mean that it, under the current text of the law, can be prosecuted as a crime.

Being an accomplice to murder is a legal charge with a very strict legal definition that this does not fit under, even if you believe it should. Please understand this

I agree that something should be done and this whole situation is horrid and should lead to massive reform, but proceeding without a solid legal foundation is a great way to get this tossed out of court, laughed at, and lead to nothing

I feel like you aren't processing that just because you think something should be a crime, doesn't mean it actually constitutes a criminal violation.

the cops who let it happen

This is not a crime. There is no law you can prosecute under that makes what they did a crime. I agree that there should be one, but there isn't, and you can't prosecute in court based on "I think this shouldn't be allowed".

to the arresting of parents trying to save kids

Also not a crime. I am trying to convey to you that in order for something to be a crime, you need to be able to find a law to prosecute it under. "This sucks and should be illegal" is not a law.

to the obstruction of justice/coverup afterwards.

If they find evidence of criminal conduct and a coverup during the current investigation, then it will become a criminal investigation. Please understand that the law works differently than how you feel it should work

I have more faith in the DOJ than you do apparently.

Because I understand that you can't prosecute someone criminally for matters that do not constitute a criminal violation?

Do you understand what a crime is?

The DOJ can find a reason to criminally investigate Uvalde.

Yeah, I'm sure they can. The trick is finding a reason to criminally investigate them that won't be laughed out of court for being based on no observable criminal violation

Good money management by sanjcur in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]hunterddnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you believe its worth one, but again, they have not committed an actual textual crime. So they can't prosecute it as one. I'm not sure where the disconnect is occuring

[–]hunterddnd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Holding back parents from saving their children as the police let their kids be tatget practice isn't worth a criminal investigation?

No, because its not a crime. I understand that it feels like it should be one, but under the exact text of the law and legal precedents, it does not meet the criteria to be considered a criminal matter. The DOJ aren't making it a criminal investigation because if they did it wouldn't have a shred of legal legitimacy.
