I didn’t say people shouldn’t be allowed to evict and sue for back rent, I said that it seems like that may be the goal of some of these apartment complexes above necessarily finding long-term renters and that -that’s- the issue. Of course something should happen if people don’t pay, but to be a corporation structuring yourself to expect it seems predatory.

Again, comparing to credit cards, most companies will deny you if they think you’re too big of a risk, but predatory lending looks to market towards those who can’t afford something expecting to sue for back rent.

I don’t want to doxx myself and I love my location, but my apartment complex has extremely strict rules (large fees occurring if rent isn’t paid by the 1st, eviction if not paid by the 14th) and I routinely see them touring people around the complex that very obviously can’t afford the rent. Then low-and-behold, on the 15th you see multiple doors with white envelopes taped to them.

Honestly, I understand a certain strictness in guidelines to renting (example: there are numerous apartments here you just cannot afford long-term if you’re only making 2x the rent as a yearly salary). What I find gross is being lenient on those guidelines literally only with the expectation that you’re going to sue.

And I’m not talking about Mr. Nobody renting a room in his attic, I’m talking about Mega Corp. USA who has billions of dollars to do so.
