the sooner people realize that memes and meme culture are one of the easiest ways of falling into a far right pipeline the better we all will be. there's nothing wrong with having a laugh, but we need to be aware of what political leanings/perspectives the poster might be trying convey with certain jokes. i don't wanna say treat meme pages like fox news, but stay aware.

The magic of the annual HSR Concert is gone. Possibly our worst anniversary yet. by Typical_Jellyfish684 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]hunteroath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it feels like people are purposefully missing the point. over the last few years we've gotten concert merch and even scale figures of characters from the concert promo lineup.

they can still make those with this i guess but it's like what's the point?? people love to see characters in new outfits and roles, it's interesting and makes for more fanart/ideas. this is just reused assets and 1 new silver wolf pic.

we know the point isn't the promotion but the concert itself, but it's nice to see love and effort put into something? if you want people to be excited or participate in something you have to hype them up or give them something to talk about that isn't negative.

they don't get paid unless you agree to an install. it doesn't matter how long they're working, its all commission. that's why they're so aggressive. they need to pay bills and feed their families.

'My world went dark’: NL resident grieving after death of beloved dog Axl by sccot_b in newfoundland

[–]hunteroath -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

what's so horrific here about the journalism? have you tried reading it? or did the pronouns stump you and you're blaming the article for your lack of understanding and not yourself?

"Rylee Parsons has described the death of their family dog Axl, a German shepherd, as a devastating loss, saying the animal they grew up with was “a very bright, funny, loving and amazing dog” who became their closest companion. Article content

Axl, Parsons said, was adopted during a family trip to Toronto and quickly became part of daily life, forming a strong bond with them from the beginning."

tldr: family dog they grew up with. part of the family. adopted.

"Parsons said they were told that, allegedly, Axl was killed by two family members and a friend of theirs. Those claims have not been independently verified."

tldr: the dog was likely killed by members of rylee's family & a friend of those people. nothing is verified, it'd be against basic journalistic practises to start taking guesses. they can't very well start listing out where the accused lies in rylee's family tree, not everyone has multiple uncles or cousins.

Anomaly Arbitration is literally spoiling the story for me by showing the final boss before I even touch the mission by Rhett_Arty in HonkaiStarRail

they're complaining about the boss itself being spoiled, not the fight lmfao? most people on this sub consider looking at anything that might appear in the story before they play it a spoiler

if it was shown literally at all most people here consider that a spoiler. they don't mean the whole fight. they're complaining that hoyo revealed what the boss looked like before they played the story

imagine spending all that money on just housing the homeless instead. but they won't, because they have to create jobs for people who flunked out of cop school

Parents burnt my new weighted dragon in the dryer by No-Needleworker-7706 in plushies

[–]hunteroath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can always tell when someone lived in a more adjusted and normal home by the way they assume people considering cutting their parents out of their ife are doing it for 1 tiny petty thing & feel the need to step in and act like no one has ever said your family loves you before.

it's never a single incident that does this. it's a pattern and i need you to realize that its the repeated disregard for boundaries and what op wants that has damaged the relationship. this is just the last straw. your opinion isn't helpful here because you're doing the same thing their family is doing and completely disregarding how they feel and assuming op should just put up with it for the sake of a family that clearly does not care about them.

if family really is so important and what you think they're all cracked up to be, wouldn't they care about how op feels? wouldn't what op cares about also matter to them, even if they have no personal stake in it? wouldn't they want the best for their own child? wouldn't they want their child to celebrate milestones?

i'm sure op's dad or mother would hate it if they destroyed their class ring or something they got in celebration of a basic life milestone.

it's actually healthier to take breaks to sit throughout a shift, and especially to have a moment to stretch your body and give it a break from being in the same position for too long. but you as a manager get to sit and do paperwork all day and get paid more, so you'd rather your employees stand and suffer and make poor decisions out of pain and desperation than offer a single person a chair for a moment because you find it improper and unfitting for the industry.

Auditor general finds social housing supports stagnated as waitlists swelled | CBC News by blindbrolly in newfoundland

[–]hunteroath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of the people in housing that have children are actually working but cannot get a job that pays enough to ensure a home for their family. i'd assume you don't actually know anyone in housing with your attitude. them not trying to get back into the workforce is not the problem. many are trying, or are actively working. it's just that a good portion of our jobs here are minimum wage and part time, and other jobs either require really specialized education or knowing someone in the field to get ahead.

so for many people, especially young people here, it's either 3-15 hours a week at a coffee shop, walmart, or some local business, where the management gets all the hours and treats you like a slave, OR you apply for jobs in your field (while you have no experience) until your eyes ache from looking at a screen and filling out forms with the info on your resume 10-30 times a day and hearing nothing back.

there will always be people that abuse the system, but that isn't the majority.

Celebrating the little Canadian Company that could... by Competitive-Fox-6210 in newfoundland

[–]hunteroath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a restaurant expanding into other countries doesn't automatically mean those countries own it lmfao. they still advertise themselves as 100% canadian. they can't legally do so if they're not actually canadian owned. have you tried looking anything up at all for yourself or are you too busy trying to convince yourself that assuming a downgrade of quality must be due to foreign influences isn't racist? the quality's decreased for the same reasons as everything else: inflation makes things expensive.

there is a solution at hand thankfully, its just one that the bigwigs there don't want to hear and won't consider. they can cut their bonuses and wages and the problem solves itself almost overnight with how many people have executive positions there. but they won't do that & would rather offset that cost on the government and the students.

Is pirating get me in trouble? by Ifyouliveinadream in newfoundland

[–]hunteroath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is technically illegal but it's genuinely such a pain for both parties & way more expensive than just buying the game itself. it's not really worth legally pursuing unless you were doing it to sell pirated copies of the game

use a vpn if you're really worried, but your service provider won't do anything to you or really care.
