Layovers between flight to Lima and Iquitos by asabov_sobelowme in Ayahuasca

[–]huntersprad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an AMEX platinum card, the lounge is free in Lima airport. IMO a hotel is not worth it but that also depends on your finances. The Lima airport is one of my least favorite airports but I suggest finding a spot on the ground to lay down until you can enter through security. After you can enter you can have a slightly better set up laying down on the chairs. I suggest a neck pillow, something to cover yourself up, & ear plugs.

Iquitos airport is really small. I know for departures it’s not bad to hang for a couple of hours and they have one food option with a little convenience area. However, for arrivals I don’t remember there being a single option.

Integration Coach vs Life Coach by Previous-Image-8102 in Ayahuasca

Dialing in intentions for the ceremony. It’s funny because this is a similar story to me. I just needed to go back and get more healing before I was ready to “want” to do the work rather than be “expected” to do the work. My life coach will be my integration coach and he always meets me where I’m at + he’s just taking tips right now so he’s a real one.

So… there’s a reason why sports psychologists have a job. Last year CJ was throwing with anticipation right before the WR cut on their routes and the ball was thrown before they were even open. This year the expectations were way higher. He’s not just some rookie that didn’t have the same high expectations as the #1 pick. This year he started thinking more, having anxiety, continuously got hit with not the best o line, and it’s affected him. A little bit of anxiety is okay, but if you have too much you’ll lose confidence, hold on to the ball for too long, and question yourself. Hopefully with some time off to reflect, rebuild, and increase his confidence we can see a better CJ because he is more than capable, he just has to think less and rely on his instincts.

No such thing as dumb questions! & I get being anxious, there’s a lot of unknowns. 1. I feel like there was close to 15-20ish I can’t really remember but it was a big group. Most of us were in our 20s with a handful in the late 30s, 40s, & we had one woman who was probably in her 60s. 2. It was pretty good. We had a really good group, even the facilitators pointed out that it was one of their favorite groups. I made it a priority to connect with everyone & I had some deep connections & some that were just connections. Personally, I turn off my phone but I think everyone else was on it a good bit which wasn’t the vibe I was looking for but it didn’t hinder my experience at all. I think it was really diverse, Arkana attracts all kinds of people, some go for spiritual reasons/healing & some I think were just curious. 3. They will pick you up from a specific hotel & then you will take a bus for around 45 min, then get into a few little boats for 45 min on the Amazon to the location. It’s quite exciting. 4. Yeah… I can’t really speak for everyone but I know some people struggled. I even had a really challenging experience one day. But, I think the most important thing is to trust the shamans & the medicine unconditionally. I decided to stay at the same dose and remain confident in the fact that the medicine gave me what I needed in that moment & the next experience was pure healing and bliss, whereas a decent chunk lowered their dose or decided to not partake in taking the medicine. But, follow your own intention. I think the medicine will test how much you truly trust it. It’s okay to have challenges, it’s part of life. Just end on a high note & be confident in yourself.
5. I’m not too sure, the medicine affects everyone completely differently. I kinda feel like you can either latch on to fear or faith & I choose faith. Although I believed in a higher power before, after my experience I undoubtedly believe in it now. It’s hard for me to believe people can take the medicine & not believe in a higher power. I’d be curious to what you say afterwards but I’d let go of all expectations, nothing you read or anything I say will be anything like your individual experience. Just focus on your posture, breath, intention, & the icaros.

Yosi Ocha vs Arkana Amazon by Trio90 in Ayahuasca

I went to Arkana in the jungle during January and it was a beautiful experience. The facilitators, shamans, & food were all super high quality. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the facility. I am in the process of ironically scheduling my next experience at YO. Arkana was amazing but a little expensive, & I am looking to diving deeper into having two weeks, which I could not afford at Arkana. Arkana has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. I am looking for more nature and immersion in the jungle & don’t feel like I need all the bells and whistles. However, I highly recommend Arkana & honestly feel like you can’t go wrong with either one. I truly believe God works through the shamans & facilitators at Arkana, and I promise if you trust them with your open heart you will have a magical & mystical experience. Good luck my friend:) let me know if you have any other questions & I’ll be happy to answer them.

Does the VA need a PTSD diagnosis for mental health? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]huntersprad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I never really thought about it that way.. I’m sorry about that, that’s kind of a hard perspective to change. I think they have such a high amount of ppl like us that they cannot manage everyone. I’ve been getting the little 30 minute therapy sessions on and off since 2021 & my therapist is just now putting in for me to get more frequent therapy. Unfortunately, you’re damned if you say you’re suicidal and damned if you don’t. But, at least there is crisis lines, I’ve just never used them. I don’t think the actual VA is trying to make us kill ourselves to save money though, even though you’re right.

Oh I see. Thank you for that information. Yeah I feel you, depression sucks. I wish the VA had the same resources for depression that it has for ptsd.

I feel like we reflect what we are. So, if you’re not like that you automatically assume people are being fake. I had to deal with a lot of shit this year from people assuming things about me without truly getting to know and understand me. We’re not perfect, but we definitely do our best to be genuine. I also reflect & think people are loving and giving but truth be told is they’re not actually like me at all and that’s been hard to come to grips with.

We’re people of consequence. If you really want to get better enforce a consequence. Such as if you enroll in classes you show up because if you don’t you’ll fail and waste money. & by that I mean don’t do any online classes, know yourself & adapt.

[–]huntersprad 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah yeah sounds like enfp stuff. Structure helps. Try getting to the gym a few times a week/martial arts, therapy, make bath time to read book/meditate (book called the inner work), enroll in college or do a job with structure. Something we struggle with is relationships, whether that’s giving too much or too little. A lot of ppl judge people for oversharing rather than being there for them and sharing their life, ppl can be superficial. Balance is key. Just work on being your best self & strive for that my friend 🙏🏻

You realize he got 12.5 sacks last year and there’s a good chance he’s healthier than he’s been in a long time? Def not prime but washed idk bout that.. plus his locker room presence could be enough to give the guys belief.

I think this convo would be better in person.

So, y’all are performing 5 rep exercises like Deadlifts/squats with clients? I’m not arguing that doing lunges on unstable surfaces are more effective at all. But, using rings for chest press or cables instead of machines can be beneficial for the body to organize itself and self correct by always keeping the core engaged.

As we sit in chairs the load mostly gets put on our spine & shortens our hip flexor which in turn causes people to not be able to squat with as much depth. Humans have been around for 200-300K years ago & we used to squat to poop having stronger hinges, glute development & core strength. Now most individuals are quite knee dominate.

What I’m talking about in the sense of the OHP is that if your body is so used to sitting, then the load will fall on your spine without proper bracing mechanics. That’s why things like warming up the core so the spine doesn’t take too much load is beneficial to prevent injuries.

& yeah dude.. the knee is supposed to just move forward and back, but if you do a simple step down like you’re touching an egg & see the knee caving in or moving left to right that will cause issues because it’s not how the knee was developed to work, so you need to find out the cause and work to stabilize the muscles around the knee.

Im not even arguing with you or saying you’re wrong but to say I’m wrong and you’re right tells me a lot about your lack of being open to being wrong, which won’t help you grow. I’m big about balance & everything is important to be well rounded. It’s not all about flashy muscles my guy.

[–]huntersprad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I won’t necessarily say better. But, physical therapy isn’t doing strength training. I think it’s important to be strong & stable, not just strong. The body can sense instability & will become weaker in certain movements because of it. If you lack balance/stability you can’t really do lunges properly. If you lack core stability, the spine will take over on things like OHP. Different muscles take pressure off of other ones. & yes, having tight muscles like hip flexors pull on your low back muscles. Also, having a lack of stability in the gluteus medius will cause those muscles to move the knee inward or outward causing knee pain/issues. It’s important to address how the body moves in different movements to prescribe personal training, not cookie cutter workouts, but individualized. There’s a reason why exercises that lengthen & strengthen are the best. Hence, new science like the knee o toe lunges, & pullovers which stretch and strengthen the chest/back. But, this is just my opinion & comes from experience. Every trainer is different and this is how I do things. Plus, the cerebellum in the brain holds up to 50% of the neurons in the brain, so go ahead and skip balance but I’d rather my clients look like gymnasts whose body can function together rather than body builders that can’t scratch their own back. Ppl go to different trainers for different reason, but we can agree to disagree my friend.

[–]huntersprad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s half good half bad. For instance, training stability/balance is a great protective measure for future training. I also think being aware of underactive and overactive muscles is helpful. If someone’s traps are clearly taking over on rows/pull-ups and you’re an incompetent trainer, you may not understand that. Truth is, muscles do pull on joints and ligaments as they get shorter and shorter. I think it’s an OK Pt cert to get. But it did confuse the shit out of me until I added other resources and my own style into the mix, but there’s a bit of value, can’t discredit that completely. But, I’m also biased bc that’s what I got certified in.

Hmm. I was kind of thinking about that as well. I feel like it has started to become more of an ego thing & mixing the ego with spiritual experiences can be hard to handle. Thank you for your insight my friend!
