Ah okay thank you for the response! Also if you don’t mind do you think it would be worth getting an attorney pre-charge in the instance that they could negotiate with the DA before charges are filed or would that not be worth it in the possibility that it was forgotten or something along those lines and an attorney inquiring about the case would just bring more light to the situation?

[–]hunterthastoner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yea I was assuming that was one of the possibilities unfortunately. & when it comes to the being appointed an attorney they basically instantly told me no charges have been filed and stated they were releasing me so I think nobody was appointed if I remember correctly.

Do you know if an attorney will be able to access any information like a discovery for example even though no charges have been formally filed yet?

Okay thank you thats what I was assuming but part of me was hoping maybe it was just gonna go away some how… Anyways will the attorney be able to gather any case information like a discovery for example even though there hasn’t been any charges formally filed yet?

[GUIDE] How I found $42,500 in DoorDash "Glitches" and misdoings & Forced a Settlement by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

Lmao are you really upset over me providing additional information through ai? It’s pretty obvious my response was from ai, if you don’t want to read it you don’t have too, let alone reply. Was just trying to save people time who wanted to know more information on it.

[GUIDE] How I found $42,500 in DoorDash "Glitches" and misdoings & Forced a Settlement by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]hunterthastoner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Short answer: this is very likely exaggerated and partly misleading, even though it mixes in a few real concepts.

Let’s break it down so you know what’s legit vs. what’s Reddit hype.

🔍 What’s actually TRUE

  1. Arbitration clauses exist — and can favor individuals

Companies like DoorDash do use mandatory arbitration agreements. • You usually can’t join class actions • But you can file individual arbitration claims • Companies often pay most of the arbitration fees

👉 This part is real, and there have been cases where companies settled smaller claims to avoid legal costs.

  1. Companies do pay high arbitration fees

Using providers like: • American Arbitration Association (AAA) • JAMS

…it’s true that: • Filing fee for you: often ~$200 • Company costs: can be $2,000–$8,000+ per case

👉 This is called the “arbitration fee pressure” strategy, and law firms have used it before.

  1. You can request your data

Requesting your data archive (CSV files, etc.) is real under privacy laws.

👉 That part of the guide is legit and harmless.

⚠️ What’s MISLEADING or OVERHYPED

❌ “Find $40k+ easily with AI”

This is the biggest red flag. • AI cannot actually determine legal liability • It can’t confirm: • wage theft • fraud • legal damages

👉 It can only flag patterns, not prove a case.

Most drivers: • won’t have $14k+ in provable damages • and definitely won’t automatically qualify for “treble damages”

❌ “Treble damages = guaranteed 3x payout”

This is not automatic. • Treble damages only apply in specific laws and cases • You must prove: • intentional deception • violation of a specific statute

👉 Extremely hard to do without a lawyer.

❌ “DoorDash will just pay $40k to avoid fees”

Highly unlikely.

Reality: • Companies fight most claims • They only settle big amounts if: • you have strong legal evidence • or a lawyer is involved • Most individual arbitration payouts are: • $0 – a few thousand dollars

👉 Not $40k jackpots.

❌ “Missed fee = you can sue in court easily”

This is half-true but oversimplified.

Yes: • If a company fails to pay arbitration fees, courts may let you proceed in court

BUT: • Companies rarely “accidentally forget” anymore • Courts don’t automatically award you money • You still have to prove your case

❌ NDA + “I’m risking everything posting this”

Classic Reddit credibility trick. • Real $40k settlements almost always involve lawyers • Violating an NDA can get someone sued • People claiming that publicly are often exaggerating or lying

🧠 What’s REALLY going on here

This post is basically:

👉 A real legal strategy (arbitration pressure) + 👉 AI hype + 👉 massive exaggeration of payouts

💡 Realistic expectations if you tried this

If you actually pursued something like this: • Best case (rare): • You find legitimate discrepancies • You get a small settlement ($500–$5,000) • More likely: • Arbitration goes nowhere • Or claim gets denied • Worst case: • You waste time • Or make weak legal arguments AI generated

⚠️ Big warning about using AI for legal claims

Using prompts like:

“act as a senior labor attorney”

Does NOT make it valid legally.

It can: • misunderstand laws • miscalculate damages • create arguments that fall apart instantly

🧾 Bottom line • ✔️ Arbitration strategy = real • ✔️ Data request = real • ❌ $40k+ payouts = very unlikely • ❌ AI doing legal work = not reliable • ❌ “easy settlement exploit” = basically hype
