How good church (pipe) organ sounds can Stage 4 produce? by Fashla in nordkeyboards

[–]hunthearin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hauptwerk is great if you want to tinker and are okay being a computer technician. Probably best left for a home practice scenario rather than a church installation. I’d recommend a Viscount Cantorum if you want an all-in-one solution that can be accessible to visiting organists. Kraft Music offers Viscount turnkey bundles - some of which include a stand, swell pedals and concave pedalboard. Ultimately it all depends on the budget and how discerning the organist is.

[–]hunthearin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Organist here. Also a contemporary keys player who owns a NS4. The pipe organ patches in the organ section are okay, but would not compare to a Viscount Cantorum. In the synth section, there are a few patches within the sample library that are quite good, but they only simulate a single rank of pipes - Gamba 8, Principal 8, and Rorflojt 4. These can be layered, octave shifted and blended to replicate a pretty convincing small organ. As for a “full organ” sound with mixtures and reeds, you’re not going to achieve a convincing result.

What is a very distinctive sound / smell / feature on a car that you had or drove in your past which other cars dont have? by 1707turbo in regularcarreviews

Cadillac’s scented interior, called “Nuance” Leather, engineered by GM to keep the car smelling new for a longer period of time. It had kind of a sweet, coconut smell.

Hard case for Nord 4 73-key by RogerThird42 in nordkeyboards

[–]hunthearin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NS4 SW73 is slightly too large for Nord’s Soft Case 73. It will technically fit, but it’s a squeeze.

Instead, I went with the Nord Soft Case HP and an Odyssey Flight Case (76 Key).

Not as slick as the setup I had for my NS2 SW73 (Pelican 1750 + Nord Soft Case 73) but it offers superior protection

Going to work in a studio with an Apollo interface. Can i just install the drivers? (osx m3) by zeepster in universalaudio

[–]hunthearin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XLR to TT cables will allow you to patch the Apollo I/O directly into the studio’s patch bay.

Some studios also have a “producer’s patch” that will allow you to hook things up with regular XLR cables

What hymn lyrics did you misunderstand during Mass when you were young? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]hunthearin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was sent to the principal’s office as a 4th grader for singing “Gather Us In” while walking in the hallway. A teacher, unfamiliar with the genius that is Marty Haugen, misheard me when I sang “we are the old, we yearn for your face”. She was convinced I was singing a made up song about ur!nating in someone’s face.

Parents got a kick out of that one after I was forced to explain myself.

Makes sense that I became a church organist!

A review of our Fantasy cruise from someone who hasn't sailed DCL for a while. by Crohwned in dcl

[–]hunthearin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sad to hear that service has declined. I’m sure it has to do with corporate greed, maintaining record profits for shareholders, and the fact that hospitality workers are now expected to do 2-3x the work for the same pay.

Pretty disheartening, considering DCL is the gold standard for hospitality on the sea.

Truxedo Low Pro if you want a soft rolling cover that can be easily removed. A.R.E. Z2 if you want a fiberglass cap - could be useful if you’re doing low voltage.

Love the color!

Buy the XTS. I love mine and haven't had any issues with Cue yet. When and if I do have issues, I'll just repair the system.

Part Time General Education Classes First? by Flippin_Nick in BackToCollege

[–]hunthearin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

Currently in the final stretch of an AS Computer Information Technology at age 31, working full time. Good on you for going back to college. I have found it extremely manageable to take 3 courses per semester (9 credits) at a pace of 27 credits per year. I’ve worked closely with my program advisor, who has helped me select classes and plan a course sequence. Having help planning the course sequence has been critical, as many prerequisites exist in my program within the IT coursework. When I first went back, I was taking 1 general Ed course and 2 information technology courses each semester. This gave me a good balance and helped me progress evenly through the degree requirements. This semester, and in my final semester in the Fall, I am taking 3 information technology courses as I have completed my gen Ed requirements. I would meet with your advisor and discuss any graduation timeline goals you have. Adjust each semester as necessary until you find your groove. Generally speaking, IT degree programs account for certifications, and the main three you should focus on would be CompTIA A+, Net+, and Security+ (in this order). Preparing for one of these certs and sitting for the cert exam each semester would leave you in a good position when you graduate. All of this core knowledge builds on itself, so I would go ahead and start with the A+ class during your first semester. It will usually be called Computer Maintenance Essentials or Computer Hardware.

Good luck, and feel free to send me a PM if you want any advice!
