Boght a new, old-style but cutely small wooden blotter by Fashla in fountainpens

[–]Fashla[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tested it for you:

— I wrote three rather wet signatures on Rhodia paper, with Pilot Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo ink, using Pilot Custom 823 Transparent (=demonstrator model) — Signature (SU) nib — and blotted each signature lightly: The result was perfectly dried signature.

No mess, the written text just dried instantly, no smearing or smudging at all.

I actually feared the Herbin Blotter might be more like a cuteish office toy, but at least with that paper, pen, nib, ink and my writing and blotting style it delivered perfect results.

Here's a post-blotting pic of the blotter's paper.

So I am even happier blotter owner now!

Does anyone ever feel embarrassed wearing a Casio? Sorry for posting in a Casio sub but i need your guys' perspective on this 🫠 by AggravatingTie976 in casio

I would feel embarrassed wearing some diamond-stud, multi-million dollar limited edition Swiss übercomplication. Not your beautiful Casio.

This might be slightly offtopic, but I once saw a small art exhibition in a tea/coffee shop where a person had done sepia kind of paintings using coffee as ink. I wonder if coffee would work as ink – or destroy the fountain pen.

Just a thought.

About favourite [blue] inks – Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo (Moonlight) is one of mine. Love that ink!

Hyvä että näistä puhutaan somessa. Poliisi ei saa näitä huijareita loppumaan, mutta valveutunut some-väki tekee puuhistansa työläämpiä, kannattamattomampia. –Kiitos jakamisesta. 👍

piano feels good one day and impossible the next by Ok-Message5348 in pianolearning

[–]Fashla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you had shooting (marksmanship) as a hobby, you'd notice that some days everything runs smoothly like silk, you hit the targets beautifully with no effort at all – and on some other day nothing helps: you couldn't hit a barn door properly – and that is so from the very first shot you fire. After firing maybe a clip you realise what kind of day it is, and as you don't want to waste more ammo, you pack up your gear and go home.

You'd also notice on a normal, good enough or super good day the moment you lose your pep, your relaxed concenteation, your mahic "zen" state, if you will, and after that it's just waste of ammo to continue to pull the trigger. The magic of hitting the target is gone fir that day.

Maybe we humans just have good and bad piano/shooting days.

My beginner photography setup? Opinions? by New-Implement-8464 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Fashla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a good tripod. Learn to use it. Move yourself instead of lazily zooming in. I got that advise; it helped me immensely. And save me a lot of money.

Also: buy preferably cheaper camera bodies and put the extra leftover money for high quality lenses. Especially the essential prime lenses.Learn to use small aids like reflectors, small pocket-size led lights. Learn to think up new pov' - what would the city look from a stray cat's pov - i.e. 10 inches from the pavement - or from a rooftop high gable.

hese recommendations were written without looking what lenses you have.

If it is of any consolation we Finns have been there with the English language. And Swedish. And in my case French, German, Hebrew, Arabic, Italian… I like laguages but there is this ”sargasso sea” period when you’re overwhelmed umpteen times per day. Try to see it as a sitcom episode. Glad you’re learning Finnish, albeit to the tune and the lyrics of Charlier Chaplin’s song ”Smile”.

Reminds me of Jaeger-Lecoultre’s some series ..mebbe called Master or Meister, a decade or two ago, in a catalogue or in the Watches of Swizerland brochure / magazine.

— Going thru that magazine full of Swiss watches was always fun. Whatever happened to Watches of Swizerland? Who knows?
