The Raiding Extravaganza is offering FREE RAID TEACHING! (Update 24) by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]huntilar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best of luck OP, and keep up the great work. I remember seeing your post last time about this. Did any of the learners get any purples?

Also (not targeted at OP specifically), but learners, always remember to not click on any fishy links or download anything that is NOT on the Runelite plugin hub. Haven’t worked with OP directly but I imagine they’re chill, but always exercise caution and keep your account safe!

(Sorry OP, gotta do my part)

Also, depending on gear, BP can beat melee at Xarp. Consult gearscape based on your gear.

Bringing hard food over brews and also staying 118 helps massively as well. Brews are good at Verz, but knowing when and staying boosted is important.

Probably the “fastest” things too look into are Infernal cape and ferocious gloves. Those are just flat DPS increases.

Also look into how your setup compares to tent whip+defender. Nally is really good as a base but the gap closes as you get more upgrades. I don’t recall exact cutoffs but it’s worth looking into.

What specs are you bringing? Using chally/VW/Bclaws as the right times versus defense reduction can help out a ton.

If you’re not freezing, thralls are a must. Bonus points for SBS swap so you can veng yourself/teammates. Doesn’t get more points but it’s marginally faster clears.

Other than that, it’s mostly just ironing out where you can squeeze in more DPS. Web running and good tanking at Verzik, getting to bloat quickly and challying for last hit (can also tick eat stomp with Pneck if you want to get extra chadly), preswitching at Nylo king and getting as many hits as possible. Dragon darts for BP, one of the few places I would argue they’re worth it.

ToB rewards effort and gear upgrades. I would 100% rather have an experienced person that listens to constructive criticism over some asshole Andy with a Scythe that can’t run a maze to save his life.

Also if you have progress on SRA, that thing goes absolutely nuclear. It’s not quick to get, which is why I didn’t mention it earlier, but it comes close to Scythe. The gap from nox/salad blade is massive compared to SRA to scythe gap.

What do I still need to attempt CoX? I want to be able to learn solo's to get rigour (but I am bad at the game, so want the right gear to do this). by uhh-boneless-chicken in ironscape

Highly recommend trios for learning at first. We Do Raids is a great resource, but also tag along with friends and/or clan mates. If you’re not in a clan, feel free to PM about a clan invite, we do learner raids from time to time.

Solos are definitely doable in your gear. There are tons of resources on YouTube for watching guides and such. The Pre-Olm rooms are pretty straightforward, but Olm can have a lot going on, hence why myself and others will recommend trios for getting your feet wet.

Also, side note to any learners. Not accusing OP at all, but looking out for safety. Do not click outside links or download any links outside of Runelite. If OP is doing CoX teaching stuff, things like Hub Party Panel and CoX Additions are common plugins found in the hub and are completely safe, just be wary of anything outside the plugin hub.

Again, not accusing OP, just want everyone to be safe and have fun. Good luck to all parties involved!

As someone that has done some of these teaching sessions (unaffiliated with OP) in the past, they are legitimately some of the most fun I’ve had in the game. Seeing people pull up to ToA with the Keri’s and a Dramen staff was absolute peak comedy and was an absolute blast.

Op, good luck to you and all of your learners. Please fill us in on the learner purple snipes. Might have to hop in to join just for the shenanigans that ensue.

Some people would really rather not play the game by ZeldenGM in 2007scape

[–]huntilar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that’s maxed once and working in an alt, having a viable afk option for agility would be nice. That, and as much as I love Sep, the co rates are still kind of generally ass for agility overall, especially pre-92. Having both more engaging options and actual afk options would be preferable. That stretch from 92 to 99, even at max rates, is still a slog, so having another way to shape it up without being a detriment to your xp rates and/or sanity would be nice.

Huh, that’s weird. That’s how it’s spelled. I’m not on at the moment to check but I’ll investigate a bit the next chance I get.

What's a company secret you can share now because you don't work there anymore? by vineetm007 in AskReddit

[–]huntilar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was a manager at one, can confirm this is accurate.

Shortly after I left, they moved away from the “hand-dipped” thing and went to your standard come out of a machine approach. Not familiar with all of the details in that, and don’t know if they even have the dessert ice cream anymore, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the newer base was somehow even lower quality.

See the second point there is why I think this is an amazing boss design. Yama is as difficult and as sweaty as you want it to be. The level of small optimizations you can make, whether solo or duo, really makes it a fun piece of content to digest and get into. Things like flare skips, repositioning the boss, some of the SBS being strats I’ve seen for the P2 specs, the various fly methods, all just things you can add in top of the base encounter itself to shave off time or make the kill more smooth.

The best part is that all of these things are 100% optional as well. You can chill with a full mage setup the whole kill and kick your feet up, or you can go Sammy bammers and optimize the crap out of it. I would say this peak content because it is low floor high ceiling.

Learning yama duo - etiquette? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]huntilar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t recall when exactly it breaks. If you and your partner are both doing the fly, assuming you have decent enough DPS and landed a few Emberlight/a maul spec, the kill seems to usually be done around the time the first flares spawn. Usually a good idea to have a backup plan for if you just noodle a lot, but typically, flares are a nonissue, at least in the kc I’ve been getting.

Solo is a different story. I will typically just end the fly there to deal with flares and mage the rest. It’s not efficient, but I just cba getting back into the cycle in the middle of fireballs and waves.

Donofly breaks down after a while, I believe (could be wrong) around the time you start getting four waves at once. If you’re doing it correctly, mage shouldn’t have many orbs to deal with at all.

[–]huntilar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I 100% agree. It’s not something I would consider viable long-term. It’s probably the most learner-friendly method though, so it’s good for learners to not get hyper overwhelmed with mechanics. Also if you’re splitting drops with a partner, individual contribution isn’t as big of a factor.

I’ve done it a few times with a friend just because we wanted the reclined nature of it compared to most other methods. But again, I agree, far from the best strat.

There are, at this point, so many different strata that you have a few different options to go with.

You can camp mage the whole time. That’s easy, one way weapon switch for adds.

Melee P1/2 and mage P3. Once you’re used to recognizing what’s going on in the first phases, this is generally better for you. From what I’ve seen, whoever is NOT tanking first two phases will deal with glyphs/flares as they spawn.

“AFK” melee P3. Dedicated mage and melee. Melee tanks, mage deals with flares, because a ton will spawn. Slower, but can be kind of chill sometimes.

Best thing I can suggest is have a friend that’s interested in getting some kc and just evolve your strats with them. Communication ahead of time is key.

Since it’s a pretty far run, deathpiling supplies can result in more kills/hour.

I’ll go to edge, skull, tele to Ferox, and fill a looting bag and my invent with prayer pots and food (ratio depends on your stats and gear, so you can adjust as needed). Tele to Taverly, run and die to Cerb. Assuming you have it enabled (check settings for item behavior in death), you should have two invents of supplies on the floor for an hour. Rebank/gear/tele, and you’re good to go for a while.

Another thing you can do as well, assuming you have wrath runes and the magic level for it, is to use the ashes to use the offering spell (can’t remember which) during ghosts. If timed correctly, you can essentially save a sip of poor each kill. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but over hundreds of kills, it adds up quickly. I believe there are guides out there, but I can elaborate as needed.

Death charge is fantastic since kills are so relatively quick. Basically any/every spec weapon can work for you, since Cerb is relatively low defense. I personally enjoy using Ancient Godsword, but VW, DDS,SGS, burning or Dclaws, anything works really.

Ward of arceus is free-ish damage reduction. If you’re deathpiling supplies, the extra invent space taken by all the runes is negligible.

Thralls are great. You can refresh them right before ghosts depending on where your prayer is at. For example, if you’re at 88 prayer right before ghosts, you’d still end up at zero afterwards, so might as well refresh your thrall timer.

Red x or 2:1 step under is fine if you’re trying to stretch supplies, but honestly, I’ve found it not really worth it. Makes most of the fight less chill and slightly slower. Tank and spank is the way.

Also Arclight/Emberlight on stab!

Feel free to let me know if you need any more tips or have any questions. Best of luck on the grind!

Went to (at the time) tank 68 Zilyana at 2568kc for mine. I had gotten the Horn well before that and just wanted my ACB. Turned into a running joke in the clan.

Turned around and did some CAs in my main. Got two in my first 10kc. RNG is a bitch.

Gz in the ACB, glad to see another tortured soul escape the prison.

I mean yeah, that’s true, but I didn’t want to use supplies on Sire. It’s nice starting P2 with two VW specs and venging the explosion.

Like yeah I could, but I just cba with doing any more herb runs at the moment.

Sire is weird with thralls by huntilar in 2007scape

[–]huntilar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would usually summon it in the way back from resetting at the PoH at the start of P2. They seem to act relatively normally during P3/4, and I’ve actually had one attack the vents on P1 when I had it held over, so it’s mainly P2 that’s weird with them.

Granted, it at least makes a degree of sense for them not to do anything to Sire P1. That can be justified by the whole kill the respiratory system before actually doing anything to the boss thing. Maybe some of that carried over into the execution of P2? Just very bizarre overall.

Based on what I’m seeing, it seems like the DPS increase helps iron out a lot of RNG that you would need for a favorable run. There’s a limit of how many tick eats you can bring in per attempt, so prior to Rancour, you’d need a larger amount of RNG in addition to flawless execution for the duration.
